The Flash Gets His Gold Boots in First Look at Season 8 Costume

For its second year in a row, DC FanDome took place this weekend with the event showcasing the latest in what’s to come to the DC universe pertaining to its films, television series, comics, video games, and more. During this year’s DC FanDome, fans were able to get a very first look at the newest costume for The CW’s The Flash. In the upcoming eighth season, Barry Allen aka The Flash will finally be donning his iconic and long-awaited golden boots! The Arrowverse television series is set to debut its eighth season next month. You can check out the recently revealed photos of The Flash’s newest costume from DC FanDome 2021 below.

“Gold boots. We have the lightning at the top of the red boots — that is kind of like the wing/lightning at the top — but that’s really the only thing we’re missing for it to be, pretty much, the complete comic book look,” Grant Gustin said at the time. “The suit that we have now essentially, but with boots to match the belt and then I feel like we’re there.” Grant Gustin had previously revealed that he voiced his desire to have the gold boots be part of The Flash’s costume, indicating this back during 2020 that it was on his “bucket list.”

Announced earlier this year, The Flash will return for its eighth season this fall. However, before the eighth season kicks off next month, fans will get a five-episode event titled, “Armageddon”. The five-part premiere event will feature several appearances by Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen, and Osric Chau as Ryan Choi. Also appearing in the epic Arrowverse event are returning stars Tom Cavanagh as Eobard Thawne, and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk. The official synopsis for the eighth season of The Flash reads as, a powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.

“Simply put, these are going to be some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever,” said The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace in a statement. “Plus, there are some truly epic moments and huge surprises that await our fans. And we’re doing them on a scale that’s bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes. So yes, ‘Armageddon’ is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It’s going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got planned.”

Season 8 of The Flash is set to feature a major storyline for Iris West played by Candice Patton. During Season 7, the Candice Patton’s character was seen suffering from a strange time sickness that’s causing her to phase through temporal planes. Eric Wallace recently explained that while Iris’ illness won’t be seen as a part in the “Armageddon” event, it will have a key role in the upcoming season. “Iris’ time sickness gets dealt with after ‘Armageddon’,” Eric Wallace said. “Solving Iris’ time sickness is a huge, huge part of the entire season, and it will take all season to solve that. And that will have big ramifications for Barry and Iris’s relationship and marriage.”

The Flash is an American superhero television drama airing on The CW. The series developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns. The Flash is based on the Barry Allen incarnation of DC Comics character the Flash, a costumed superhero crime-fighter with the power to move at superhuman speeds. The CW series is also a spin-off from Arrow, existing in the same fictional universe known as Arrowverse. Season 8 of The CW’s The Flash is currently set to premiere on November 16, 2021, and is expected to conclude in May 2022. The new look at the costume comes from DC FanDome.
