Drew Barrymore Brought Her Kids to Work Just So They Could Meet John Cena

Drew Barrymore couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have her children meet WWE legend John Cena. Recently, Cena appeared as a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show to help promote his new series Peacemaker on HBO Max. But it was perhaps Barrymore’s children who were more excited about the appearance than their mother.

Speaking about the situation on The Talk, Barrymore explained how she brought her daughters (9-year-old Olive and 7-year-old Frankie) to the set of the talk show when Cena was present. The actress turned talk show host says she never normally brings her children to work, but she had to make an exception for Cena. Along with Cena and his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, everyone was able to spend some quality time together and even bond quite a bit.

“I actually made an exception, and I pulled them out of something they were doing to come and meet John Cena. And I got to meet his extraordinary wife,” Barrymore said. “And we all talked about how rare it was to make it a family affair, and we’re usually very professional, you know. My kids come to work and I include them on my journey,”

She added: “I don’t put them on camera, I’m very protective of them. And I think he’s become protective of his private life, and we were just so happy to all bond and hang out together. It was really, really wonderful.”

John Cena Can Also Be Seen in Peacemaker on HBO Max

NBC

John Cena has been heavily promoting Peacemaker, stopping by as many different programs as possible all while wearing his outfit from the HBO Max series. The series has been pretty well-received by Cena’s fans and there’s a good chance HBO Max will be ordering more episodes based on the success. That also doesn’t mean that Cena is finished with his wrestling career, as he promises he still has some unfinished business in the WWE ring to settle.

“WrestleMania is usually in the cusp of late March, early April. I don’t know if I’m going to make it this year,” Cena said earlier this month on Ellen. “And that’s a good conundrum to have because there’s a lot of good opportunity coming up, which I would love to take and if all those things line up, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make WrestleMania.”

While he will probably miss this year’s WrestleMania, Cena added: “But I will tell you and everybody watching, I’m not done with WWE by a long shot. That’s my home, I love it. I was able to go back during the summer for a few months and entertain audiences when they welcomed audiences back to arenas, so I’ve far from had my last performance.”

Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max, which features Cena playing a character very much unlike his WWE persona in just about every way. You can also catch more of Drew Barrymore weekdays on The Drew Barrymore Show.
