Prime Video Shares First Look at My Policeman Starring Harry Styles

Singer, actor, and international star Harry Styles is looking as handsome as ever in the first look for the upcoming My Policeman. The official Prime Video Twitter account shared two stills Thursday morning, showing a dressed-to-the-nines Styles gazing intently at art alongside co-stars Emma Corrin (The Crown) and David Dawson (Year of the Rabbit); in another, Styles and Corrin share a loving smile in a swimming pool.

My Policeman follows Tom Burgess (Styles), a gay policeman in 1950s Britain, where same-sex relationships are illegal. Though he begins a relationship with schoolteacher Marion (Corrin), he also finds himself in a secret affair with a museum curator, Patrick Hazelwood (Dawson). Caught in a complicated, painful love triangle, Tom makes a decision that will change things forever. 40 years later, Tom (Linus Roache) and Marion’s (Gina McKee) already tense life together becomes even more strained when Patrick arrives in the couple’s home, reigniting the sparks from decades prior. The two timelines intertwine to create an emotional love story outside the confines of time.

Styles Was Recently Passed Up for Elvis Biopic: “Too Much of an Icon”

Harry Styles has come a long way in his acting career since the one-time One Direction member made a brief appearance on Nickelodeon’s iCarly. Styles made his film debut in Christopher Nolan’s 2017 World War II epic Dunkirk; he has now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is also starring in the upcoming thriller Don’t Worry Darling.

Along with a busy filming schedule, the now-solo, Grammy Award-winning artist recently released his third studio album, Harry’s House.

Perhaps that’s why, W Magazine reports, director Baz Luhrmann passed over the mega-star for the role of Elvis in his latest biopic.

“Harry is a really talented actor. I would work on something with him. The real issue with Harry,” Luhrmann, who tested Styles for the role, told Australian radio hosts Fitzy and Wippa. “Is [that] he’s Harry Styles. He’s already an icon.” The role eventually went to Austin Butler, with Luhrmann explaining he didn’t believe fans could look past Styles and see Elvis.

Although Styles won’t be playing The King on the big screen (at least, not any time soon), fans can catch the star in Don’t Worry Darling September 23 and My Policeman October 21.
