Report: Ravens still want long-term deal with Lamar despite injury

Despite quarterback Lamar Jackson’s knee injury, the Baltimore Ravens are still committed to their star quarterback. They will begin negotiating a long-term contract with Jackson whenever the season ends, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Ravens are expected to franchise tag Jackson if they cannot agree on a deal, Rapoport adds. He has not played since Dec. 4.

Jackson played this season on the fifth-year option, which was $23 million. He is hoping to get as much guaranteed money as possible, close to the five-year, $230-million fully guaranteed contract Deshaun Watson signed with the Cleveland Browns last offseason.

The 26-year-old will not play in the Ravens’ wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a sprained PCL. Jackson posted on Twitter Thursday saying his knee is still swollen and unstable.

Jackson has started 12 games this season, totaling 3,006 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine turnovers.
