  • Robert Pattinson Rumored to Appear in The Penguin Series Prior to Batman 2

An industry insider has revealed that Robert Pattinson might appear in The Penguin series, connecting it to Matt Reeves’ Batman universe.

Robert Pattinson, who is well-known for his roles in the Twilight franchise and his recent portrayal of the caped crusader in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, is rumored to appear in the upcoming DC series The Penguin. According to Jeff Sneider, an industry insider on The Hot Mic, rumors are circulating about Pattinson’s next role in the DC Universe. It is unclear, however, whether he will appear as Batman, Bruce Wayne, or both in the series.

“Word is that Pattinson is going to appear in The Penguin series.”

The Penguin is a spin-off series that will follow the story of Oswald Cobblepot, a notorious villain who rises to become a crime boss in Gotham City. While the series is not set to be part of the DC Extended Universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran are building, it is expected to be connected to Matt Reeves’ Batman universe. Colin Farrell is set to reprise his role as Cobblepot, and the series will reportedly take place just one week after the events of The Batman, in which Gotham City is in a state of chaos following the death of Carmine Falcone.

With Pattinson potentially making an appearance in The Penguin, it seems likely that the series will set up some of the events of The Batman – Part 2. Director Matt Reeves has already commented that Pattinson’s Batman will be the emotional center of the upcoming sequel, so it’s possible that The Penguin will have a part to play in the story of the film. While it’s not yet confirmed whether Pattinson will be appearing as Batman in The Penguin, the possibility of his involvement in the series has certainly piqued the interest of DC fans.

Lauren LeFranc will serve as showrunner for the series. LeFranc is known for her work on character-driven shows, having previously worked on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Impulse. In The Batman, Colin Farrell gave a remarkable performance as the Penguin, fully immersing himself in the role with the help of extensive makeup and costume design. This new series will allow Farrell to fully dive into the character and uncover new layers and depth to the character.

In a recent interview, Colin Farrell shared his reaction to being given his own spinoff series. He expressed his surprise at the news, as he had never considered that his character, Oswald Cobblepot, would have his own show when he first started filming for the movie.

“The only thing I had an idea was that I wasn’t nearly getting to explore the character as much as I wanted to. Because there was all this extraordinary work done by [makeup artists] Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine and his team, and I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were getting to do the six or seven scenes that we did in the film. I was grateful for them, but I wanted more.”

Although The Penguin does not have a confirmed release date, its production is set to begin soon and last about five or six months.
