Owen Wilson Reveals When Loki Season 2 Will Debut on Disney+

Owen Wilson seems to have added weight to the recent rumors that a very limited number of MCU shows will hit Disney+ this year. A recent report suggested that rather than the several MCU series that were meant to be coming in 2023, only Secret Invasion and Loki season 2 were guaranteed to air. While Secret Invasion still doesn’t have a release date, Wilson has given an update on Loki’s late return possibly not happening until Fall.

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Wilson was asked about his unexpected appearance in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which also includes Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Jonathan Majors as one of Kang’s many variants. Responding, Wilson said:

“I guess they have kind of a little shot of Tom Hiddleston and I and Jonathan Majors from Loki season two, and I think that’s coming out end of the summer or September.”

This seems to potentially push the premiere of Loki’s second season back a little further still in the schedule and seems to shoot down the idea of any other big MCU series hitting Disney+ this year. With there being many reports speculating on the return of Bob Iger to Disney being behind the sudden pull-up in Marvel Studios’ planned output and the recent departure of Victoria Alonso are making things seem a little unsettled and very uncertain for the MCU’s future.

Loki Season Two Will Delve Back into the Multiverse

Disney+

The first season of Loki was essentially the first big step into the Multiverse Saga, with the finale introducing Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains. The character was a seemingly benign keeper of time, who appears to have ensured that the “sacred timeline” remains linear and does not allow the multiverse to break loose. However, after He Who Remains is killed by Sylvie, Loki finds himself in a changed world where Kang the Conqueror appears to be a big player.

This turn of events will be followed up in season two, with Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius appearing to head off in search of another iteration of Kang going by the name of Victor Timely. This is what we see in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with Loki and Mobius having tracked down Timely and appearing ready to stop him from becoming the instigator of the many variants of Kang that are now about it bring the MCU to its knees.

Fans have been waiting a long time for Tom Hiddleston to make his comeback as Loki, with the first season having aired back in 2021 to some of the best viewer numbers on the Disney+ platform. While there is currently no hint at what could lie in store for the God of Mischief beyond the second season of Loki, there are still many who are hoping to see Loki reunited with his brother Thor in what could be one of the big departures from the franchise in Avengers: Secret Wars.
