The couple reportedly met on the set of “The Babysitter” in 2015. Weaving played the leading role of Bee, while Warden worked as a producer on the film. That November, Warden shared a few pictures with Weaving on the set of “The Babysitter” on Instagram, however, they appeared to be nothing more than coworkers at the time. It wasn’t until September 2016 when Warden began posting pictures of him hanging out with Weaving outside of work that led to speculation the pair had begun dating. In January 2017, Warden confirmed they were an item by sharing a picture of Weaving kissing him on the cheek. Since then, they’ve continued to document their relationship on Instagram.
In September 2019, Weaving revealed she and Warden had taken their relationship to the next level by referring to the producer as her “fiancé” in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald while talking about her friendship with “Barbie” actor Margot Robbie. “My fiancé and her husband [director Tom Ackerley] are really close,” she said.
In that same interview, Weaving shared details about her engagement. She said she once told Warden that when the time came for him to propose, she didn’t want “a big scene” and instead preferred something simple. “I want something like the pizza box opens and there’s a ring inside — that’s the dream,” she said.
Weaving then revealed Warden popped the question during a trip the couple took to Paris earlier that year. “One morning, I got up early and went to meet a friend for brunch. When I came back, the room was full of flowers and he got down on one knee,” she said.
So, what was it about Warden that caught Weaving’s eye? “He’s brilliant and he’s the funniest person I know,” Weaving said. “He’s loyal and you can depend on him.”
In May 2021, Warden hinted on Instagram that he and Weaving had secretly tied the knot already. “It’s been two years since I married my favorite actor in the world, Steve Zahn. Happy anniversary, Steve. I love you,” he said, jokingly referring to Weaving as “The White Lotus” actor Steve Zahn.
Weaving confirmed she and Warden were married in a May 2022 interview with the Herald Sun by revealing she and her “husband” were working on another film together. “I am actually about to go and work with my husband. He has written and is directing a film so I am going to go and do that, which will be really fun,” she said. That September, Variety confirmed the couple were working together on “Borderline,” which marks Warden’s directorial debut.
On Feb. 21, the pair made their red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere of “Cocaine Bear” in Los Angeles. Weaving posted a picture of the moment on Instagram alongside a sweet caption celebrating her husband’s success with the film. “COCAINE BEAR 🧸Jimmy drove me to work what, 4 years ago? Turned to me and said ‘I think I have an idea for a movie. It’s about a bear who does cocaine.’ THEN THIS ALL F***ING HAPPENED. Ugh, I’m so proud it’s gross. Love you,” she wrote.
