Jennifer Lawrence is catching on fire in Hot Ones latest video while promoting her new movie No Hard Feelings, which hits theaters this Friday, June 23rd. No Hard Feelings, directed by Gene Stupnitsky, follows a broke girl named Maddie who’s about to lose her family house and her life is a complete mess. Desperate to get back on her feet, she answers a weird ad in a newspaper, published by two parents who want their kid to get out of the house. Although this isn’t the first comedic role Lawrence has taken, since she was part of movies like Silver Linings Playbook or Don’t Look Up, No Hard Feelings’ tone is very different from those projects, which required a completely different kind of acting. In fact, Lawrence spoke about her experience working on the 2013 American Hustle film, where she worked with Christian Bale and what he learned from him:
“I had always been very on/off on/off until I did American Hustle and worked with Christian Bale, who I noticed when the camera started rolling and the crew started preparing and it would be about 10 seconds to action, he [Bale] would start getting ready. I saw that and was like, ‘that seems like a really good idea.’ So then I started to do that.”

Why Comedy is the Right Way to Go for Jennifer Lawrence
Sony Pictures
Although the actress may continue to navigate into drama, with roles similar to those that brought her to the top as Winter’s Bone, the interpretation responsible for her finally landing the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, there is no doubt that leaning towards comedy would be a good decision.
Lawrence has already proven herself good in the genre, especially for what she did with Roselyn, her character in American Hustle, even though she wasn’t a lead. Don’t Look Up was another good test, but her character was trapped in a story that sought the absurd more than classic comedy.
No Hard Feelings is a simple and clean comedy film where Lawrence, as described by the first reactions, displays all her acting skills and her natural inclination to make people laugh, something that she has demonstrated on many occasions off-camera. Her naturalness and ease in interviews, red carpets, and events have made it clear that she knows how to use her spontaneity to entertain, and it is something that she should definitely take advantage of in the future.
