Night Country Gets Delayed by HBO

True Detective: Night Country, the fourth and upcoming season of the highly acclaimed series from HBO has been delayed, when it was originally set to release later this year.

In a recent article published by Deadline, it was confirmed that the fourth season of True Detective, which will be titled Night Country, is not coming out this year as it was originally planned. Instead, the show will return to HBO on January 2024, with no specific date announced yet.

Starring Jodie Foster as Liz Danvers and Kali Reis as Evangeline Navarro, two detectives investigating the case of the disappearance of eight men in the fictional town of Ennis in Alaska, who were part of the crew of a research station in the Artic.

The new episodes will also star John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and Joel D. Montgrand.

True Detective: Night Country is not the only show from HBO that’s been affected by the current crisis at Hollywood. Other hit series like The White Lotus, Euphoria or The Last of Us haven’t been able to start working on their upcoming seasons due to the strikes. Game of Thrones acclaimed spinoff House of the Dragon is one of the few big projects that has been allowed to continue filming since most of its actors are not part of SAG-AFTRA.

True Detective Redefined the Crime Genre.

Created by Nic Pizzolatto, the anthology show first premiered in 2014 on the network, presented as an anthology series. The first season starred Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittles. The story centered on homicide detectives Rustin “Rust” Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin “Marty” Hart (Harrelson), seventeen years after the murder of a prostitute named Dora Lange in 1995, when they are forced to revisit the investigation along with some other cases that were not solved.

The second installment followed California Highway Patrol officer and war veteran Paul Woodrugh, who finds the body of City manager Ben Caspere on the highway. To investigate the case, he was assisted by Vinci Police Department detective Raymond “Ray” Velcoro and Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Sergeant Antigone “Ani” Bezzerides. In parallel, criminal Francis “Frank” Semyon carries his own investigation after loosing money because of Caspere’s passing, with all of these characters’ stories intertwining. In this occasion, the cast was led by Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly, and Vince Vaughn.

In the previous and third season, starring Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, and Ray Fisher, the story centered on Detective Wayne Hays from Arkansas, who must investigate the case behind the disappearance of two young kids in the Ozarks. The third season of True Detective premiered in 2019, so fans have been waiting for a long time for the new episodes, and they’ll have to wait a little more.
