There has been a lot of talk regarding The Boys spinoff, Gen V, since it was first announced in September 2020, at that point under the name The Boys Presents: Varsity. Tidbits had slowly drifted out, but few details were confirmed. Development delays meant production took longer than expected, forcing some cast members to move on to new projects. The recasting process caused additional delays. Eventually, the official series' official name was released on July 15, 2022, along with new cast introductions via Twitter.
