Harrison considering returning to Ohio State for 2024 season

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. said Thursday that he’s undecided about what’s next in his football career.

Harrison – the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr. – could enter the 2024 NFL Draft as arguably the top wideout available or return for another season with the Buckeyes, with whom he thinks he has some unfinished business.

“I’m still undecided,” Harrison said, according to ESPN’s Blake Baumgartner. “You guys know, coming into this year, I wanted to beat them up north (Michigan) and win a Big Ten championship. And obviously I didn’t do that this year.

“So I think that’s a great motive to come back, if that’s what I decide to do, because that’s something I definitely wanted to do in my Ohio State career. Not being able to have done that yet definitely opens the door for me to come back.”

Ohio State finished the 2023 regular season 11-1, with the team’s only loss coming against Michigan, which went on to win the Big Ten and claim a College Football Playoff berth as the No. 1 school in the country.

Beating the Wolverines and winning the conference has long been one of Harrison’s main goals with the Buckeyes. However, Ohio State has lost its last three matchups versus its archrival.

“It’s been real tough because, like I said before, that’s kind of the one goal you have (when you come to Ohio State),” Harrison said of winning a Big Ten title. “I’m definitely blessed to be getting all the recognition that I am for these different awards. But I think I’d trade it all for a win against the team up north and get to Indy and play in the Big Ten championship.”

Harrison is a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and Biletnikoff Award, given to the most outstanding receiver in college football. The junior caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. He’s the first Ohio State receiver to post 1,000-yard receiving seasons in back-to-back years.

Harrison amassed 2,613 yards and 31 TD catches over three seasons with the Buckeyes.
