In a recent interview with Total Film (via Games Radar), Mackie expressed his desire to join the high-octane franchise, hoping to secure a role in the upcoming John Wick 5 or John Wick 6. He said:

I’m really trying to get Keanu Reeves to consider me for John Wick 5 or 6.

Mackie’s ambition is driven by more than just his love for action; he’s aiming to earn the title of “cool dad” by sharing the screen with Keanu Reeves. “I think that will make me a cool dad if I had, like, a five-minute fight scene with Keanu Reeves,” Mackie said. His confidence is not unfounded, as he boasts about taking a punch from pro wrestler Samoa Joe without going down during the filming of Twisted Metal.

“I’m gonna put up a fight! [Pro wrestler] Samoa Joe punched me in the face in this [Twisted Metal] and I did not go down!”

As John Wick 5 is still in the early stages of development, details about the film remain scarce. However, the John Wick universe continues to expand, with spin-offs like The Continental and the upcoming Ballerina starring Ana de Armas.

Currently, Mackie is occupied with his role as the unique character John Doe in the Twisted Metal series, which draws inspiration from the famous video game. The show, which is now airing in the UK on Paramount+, features Mackie’s character experiencing the world with childlike wonder, encountering everything from babies to ice cream for the first time. Mackie shared:

“John is really unique. I mean, he’s an adult, but he’s a kid. The great thing about this show is he’s experiencing everything for the first time. He’s never seen a baby before. He’s never kissed a girl before. He’s never had ice cream before.”

Due to the popularity of Twisted Metal, a second season has been approved, with Michael Jonathan Smith serving as the showrunner. Smith shared his excitement about the new season, teasing the introduction of beloved characters like Dollface, Calypso, and Axel. He promises a season filled with humor, heartbreak, and thrilling character dynamics, especially as the characters come together for the “tournament season.”
