Report: Jaguars, Allen agree to 5-year, $150M extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars and franchise-tagged pass-rusher Josh Allen agreed to a five-year, $150-million extension that includes $88 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Allen’s reported $30-million average annual salary ranks third among defenders behind Nick Bosa ($34 million) and Chris Jones ($31.75 million), according to Spotrac.

The Jaguars used the one-year, $24-million tender on Allen in early March after he set a franchise record in 2023 with 17.5 sacks, a career-high mark that tied for second in the NFL.

Jacksonville general manager Trent Baalke promised in January that the star defender wouldn’t be allowed to leave the AFC South club.

Allen is the seventh player hit with the franchise tag this offseason to land a long-term contract. Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield and Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins – who reportedly requested a trade – are the franchise-tagged players yet to sign.

The Jaguars drafted Allen with the No. 7 overall pick in 2019. The 26-year-old has racked up 45 sacks and 251 total tackles in 74 games (60 starts).
