Halsey says new album is “all over the place” and “full of experimentation”

Halsey has opened up about her forthcoming album and has revealed that it will be both “all over the place” and “full of experimentation”.

Yesterday (July 18) the ‘So Good’ singer took to their official X/Twitter page to answer some questions that fans have been asking regarding her fifth album and its era. The Q&A comes ahead of the release of her single ‘Lucky‘ which will be out on July 26.

One fan asked the singer if they could “give us a hint about ‘Lucky’” to which Halsey responded: “MV director gonna make everyone flip out.” Another fan asked “Is this era like manic and have mixed genres? Or more cohesive??” with the singer revealing it will be “All over the place. when I started writing it, I thought it might be the last album I ever got the chance to make. so I tried to do whatever I’d been wanting to do, but hadn’t tried yet.”

I wrote a lot about what I was going through. I felt like I couldn’t tell anyone, though it was mostly my choice to not. but the weight of it all and looking at my life wondering if I was happy with who I was. While simultaneously changing against my will. more on that later lol https://t.co/DkpVvCmAce

Halsey also shared that the “life of the spider” visuals from last year will play a significant role in this album rollout. After a fan asked about the inspiration for the LP, the ‘Now Or Never’ singer said: “I wrote a lot about what I was going through. I felt like I couldn’t tell anyone, though it was mostly my choice to not. but the weight of it all and looking at my life wondering if I was happy with who I was. While simultaneously changing against my will. more on that later lol.”

Elsewhere in the Q&A, Halsey opened up about some of the new producers she’s work with and said: “I worked the most with Michael Uzi and Alex G both who I adore. They had already worked together on Frank, so we all folded into an awesome rhythm that was full of experimentation. and then Greg kurstin who I alwayssss work with and would die for.”

Recently, the singer has been teasing her forthcoming single ‘Lucky’ which features a sample of Britney Spears‘ 2000 hit of the same name.

“But I’m so lucky, I’m a star / But I cry, cry, cry in the lonely heart thinking / If there’s nothing missing in my life / Then why do these tears come at night?” she sings in the snippet, slightly altering Spears’ original words with a first-person spin.

The original single was released on July 25 in 2000 and was the second single from ‘Oops! I Did It Again’. It is about an eponymous famous actress who seemingly has it all but feels unhappy and lonely.

Halsey previously released the single ‘The End’ and said she was “lucky to be alive” after experiencing difficulties with her health.

The singer later confirmed that she had Lupus and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

“In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life,” she wrote at the time.

“After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all Singing and screaming my heart out.”
