Tuesday night found Times Square receiving a true Brat makeover from Charli XCX. The musician took the midtown landmark by storm for a viral surprise performance, followed by a raucous afterparty at the Hotel Chelsea—all thanks to H&M.
To mark the opening of its new Times Square store, H&M invited everyone across the city to party with Charli. Ahead of the festivities, editors and influencers mingled with champagne at the nearby Times Square EDITION. Just before the clock struck 6, the crew was ferried out into a packed Times Square, where the general public came in droves after rumors leaked online of a public pop-up XCX concert. Screams filled the air as the signs switched from red to Brat green, and further escalated once XCX appeared and began dancing atop a glass-lined stage above the crowd. The songstress performed a medley of songs from her hit album, including “365,” “360,” “Von Dutch,” “Apple,” and her and Billie Eilish’s hit remix of “Guess.” Of course, Charli’s angels (her fans’ nicknames) weren’t the only ones present; it-girls Julia Fox, Amelia Gray, Richie Shazam, Alex Consani, and Iris Law danced together on Times Square’s infamous steps, even doing the viral TikTok “Apple” dance along with XCX herself.
After the concert, shuttles arrived to ferry guests to the next spot: The Hotel Chelsea, where H&M threw its official post-concert afterparty. Hosted by Gray, the soirée toasted XCX’s concert and the brand’s new fashion platform, The Studio. Midway through, XCX arrived in a custom H&M outfit to cheer on DJ Pee .Wee, AKA Anderson .Paak, who served as the evening’s final DJ, following sets from Oscar Nñ and k.tea—before quickly escaping into the night. A truly Brat move!
Numerous stars appeared to support XCX at the late-night bash, outfitted in H&M’s new Holiday collection— including Elsa Hosk, Irina Shayk, Lila Moss, Delilah Belle, Shay Mitchell, and Hari Nef. Additional guests included Benito Skinner, Griffin Maxwell Brooks, Brooke Frischer, Kyra Surgent, Zizi Strater, Angelica Cantu, Justin Moran, Everett Williams, Melissa Vale, Greivy Lou, Josie DuPont, Hanna Hunfair, and more.
