Fans of It Follows will have to wait even longer for writer-director David Robert Mitchell‘s mysterious new film from producer J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot, Bloody Disgusting reports. The film — currently titled Flowervale Street — was originally scheduled for an IMAX release on May 16, 2025, but has now been bumped to March 13, 2026, almost an entire year later. The original premiere date has instead been given to Final Destination: Bloodlines. No reason for the switch has been given at this time.
Very little is known about Flowervale Street. It’s been described as an IMAX “thrill ride” and may or may not involve dinosaurs. It’s also rumored to be set in the 1980s, and some speculate it’s set in the Cloverfield universe. Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery are set to star. Other producers include Hannah Minghella for Bad Robot, Jackson Pictures’ Matt Jackson, and Tommy Harper.
Mitchell hasn’t released a film since the 2018 thriller Under the Silver Lake, which starred Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough, and Topher Grace. Aside from Flowervale Street, Mitchell has two other projects in the works: Evergreen Pines and the Fading Summer — first announced in 2023 and rumored to star Jim Carrey — and They Follow, a sequel to his breakout horror hit It Follows, which will bring Maika Monroe back as protagonist Jay Height.

A sequel to It Follows was recently announced, titled They Follow, and it feels like the perfect time to dive back into one of the genre’s best films.
Monroe Is Excited to Re-Team With Mitchell For ‘They Follow’
Details surrounding the horror sequel, much like with Flowervale Street, are being kept under tight wraps at the moment. However, star Monroe did release a few tidbits to fans during a conversation with Collider back in June 2024, promising that the follow-up is “bigger and darker and more f*cked up” than its predecessor.
She continued:
But as you know with the first film, I’m not taking any credit in this, David is brilliant. I mean, he is brilliant. The whole movie transformed at that point. It was changing the game in the genre, and he wouldn’t
ever
make a sequel if he didn’t think it was going to top it. He’s
very
specific, turns down so many… He just knows what he wants to do and what he wants to make. I mean, at first I’m like, ‘Oh, a sequel? Where are we going to go here?’ And I read it, and it’s just so f*cking good. It’s so good. I’m so excited. I think where you’ll meet Jay at this point is maybe not what’s expected, but it’s
so
cool… Reading it was the craziest thing ever.
They Follow is expected to begin filming sometime in 2025.
