The Phoenix Suns have been recently willing to listen to trade proposals for Kevin Durant as the Feb. 6 deadline approaches, sources told ESPN’s Tim McMahon.
The Golden State Warriors are among the teams that have expressed an interest in Durant, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
Durant, 36, spent three seasons with the Warriors before signing with the Brooklyn Nets in July 2019.
Golden State’s interest is consistent with reports claiming the organization is looking to add a second All-Star-caliber talent to play alongside Steph Curry. The Warriors also apparently inquired about the availability of LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, and Paul George, among others.
Butler has reportedly told the Warriors that he won’t sign an extension with the team in the event of a trade. The Suns have also been linked with Butler. A departure for Durant could help facilitate a move for the disgruntled Miami Heat star.
Suns guard Bradley Beal could also be involved in a potential deal for Butler. However, Beal’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, father of Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein, says Beal has no desire to waive his no-trade clause.
Durant was acquired by Phoenix from the Nets at the 2023 deadline in a blockbuster move that marked the start of Mat Ishbia’s tenure as Suns owner. Ishbia has previously publicly stated that he has no interest in trading Durant.
Durant was downgraded to doubtful due to a left ankle sprain for Wednesday’s visit to another former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s 26 points shy of becoming the eighth player in NBA history to reach 30,000 career points.
