Marisa Hochberg’s Summer Rituals for Beauty, Balance, and Well-Being

308

With a 75-pound weight loss journey behind her—and years of healthy living and her own brand marketing agency to show for it—Marisa Hochberg is proof that wellness isn’t just a trend, it’s a lifestyle. Known for her radiant energy and balanced approach to beauty and self-care, she’s curated a summer lineup of must-haves designed to go wherever the season takes you—whether you’re in the city, at the beach, or traveling abroad. From glow-boosting skincare to wellness rituals that keep her grounded through heat and hustle, these are her top picks for a vibrant, healthy summer on the go.

Each product on Marisa’s list is more than just a seasonal favorite—it’s part of a carefully crafted routine that reflects her philosophy of mindful, results-driven wellness. From hydrating serums that give that morning skin boost to fitness essentials that travel well, and clean beauty staples that stand up to summer heat, every item is chosen with purpose. Whether she’s navigating a packed day in the city or soaking up the sun seaside, Marisa’s picks are all about feeling confident, nourished, and effortlessly polished—no matter the zip code.

The products Marisa gravitates toward aren’t just about aesthetics—they’re a reflection of her journey, her resilience, and her commitment to lasting well-being. After years of discipline, transformation, and self-discovery, she knows that true beauty starts with how you care for yourself—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Each item she selects has a purpose: to support energy, simplify routines, and promote confidence from the inside out. Whether it’s a multitasking serum, a nourishing supplement, or a recovery tool that supports her active lifestyle, every choice is rooted in intention, strength, and a deep understanding of what it takes to sustain wellness in real life.

1. Skinimalism: Letting Skin Breathe
“I’m officially done with heavy makeup in 90-degree weather. This summer, it’s all about “skinimalism”—clean, hydrated, glowing skin that doesn’t need much else. I’ve been loving lightweight tinted sunscreens and serum foundations, especially anything with peptides, niacinamide or hyaluronic acid. The goal is to let your real skin shine through, with as little effort (and sweat) as possible.” Skin hydration and glow comes from within as well and staying hydrated in the summer is essential which is why I am committed to carrying a non-plastic water bottle with me at all times. This way I know I will stay hydrated all day long and keep away from purchasing a plastic bottle of water somewhere (microplastics have never scared me more!). Some of my favorites include YSE Beauty Skin Glow SPF 30 Primer, SAIE Beauty’s Sun Visor SPF 30 and Goop’s Beauty Youth-Boost Peptide Serum. I also love staying hydrated with my Yeti 36oz. Water Bottle.

2. LED Light Therapy at Home
I used to think these were reserved for spa days and post facial treatments, but my LED light therapy has become one of my favorite wind-down rituals at home. Red light helps with fine lines, blue light keeps breakouts at bay. I put my eye goggles on as protecting your eyes from these lights is essential and turn on a great podcast and use these 15-20 minutes to unwind after a long day. It’s also a great way to get off my phone for even just a small break. Two of my favorite’s are Beuwe’s LED Red Light therapy and Dr. Dennis Gross’s DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro.

3. Scalp Care = Hair Care
This year, I’ve realized that the secret to good hair days is a happy scalp. With the heat, sweat, and city water doing the most in summer, I’ve added peptide scalp serums, medically backed densifying shampoos including Oribe’s new Densifying Shampoo and Conditioner and light moisturizing leave-in treatments like The Crown Affair Leave in Conditioner to my routine. But the game-changer? A filtered shower head and Jolie Skin Co’s showerhead is ultimate perfection. Hard water, chlorine, and other mystery minerals have a tendency to turn my hair an unwanted reddish hue during the warmer months—while the sun is already constantly taking its toll on my red undertones. A good shower filter helps cut out the buildup, keeps my color looking like it’s supposed to, and honestly just makes my hair feel softer and shinier. It’s a small swap that makes a big difference. Don’t forget sleeping with a silk pillowcase, Slip’s brand is my favorite, which reduces friction – frizz and breakage.

4. Lymphatic Drainage and Sculpting Tools
I start my mornings with a chilled gua sha or facial roller—it wakes up my face and helps with puffiness that is often worse on summer mornings because of natural swelling due to the heat. But I’ve also gotten into dry brushing and body sculpting tools for lymphatic drainage. It’s surprisingly energizing, and my skin feels smoother and more alive. Plus, it’s a great excuse to carve out five minutes just for myself.

5. Functional Wellness Supplements
As summer invites a fresh start for wellness routines, three standout supplements—sulforaphane, probiotics, and hemp gummies—are gaining attention for their synergistic benefits. Sulforaphane, a powerful compound found in broccoli sprouts, supports cellular detox and helps protect against oxidative stress, making it a go-to for vibrant skin and sustained energy during sun-filled days. I love Broc Shot which is so easy to take and delivers the daily required amount of sulforaphane to reduce inflammation, neutralize toxins and even significantly improve gut health. Probiotics, essential for gut health, also play a role in immunity and mood regulation, which can be especially helpful during travel or seasonal schedule shifts. Meanwhile, hemp gummies offer a gentle way to support relaxation and stress balance, perfect for winding down after active summer adventures. My favorite are the uniquely microdosed gummies by The High Confectionary. Aside from being delicious, vegan and only 5 calories, they also have microdoses of THC which allow for just the right amount to chill out on those long summer nights, without getting high. Together, these supplements offer a holistic approach to feeling your best all season long. Hair vitamins, often rich in biotin, zinc, and saw palmetto, help fortify strands from within—ideal for keeping locks strong and shiny through sun and saltwater exposure. Rounding it out, Grüns gummies provide a convenient daily dose of greens and adaptogens to support digestion, immunity, and overall vitality, making them a delicious staple in any summer wellness lineup.

6. Bright Pops of Color That Bring Out a Tan
This summer, I’m leaning into bold, feel-good color—a swipe of coral on the lips, a hot pink dewy blush on the cheek for that sunkissed skin, and always a great mascara to pull it all together. The best part? A little color goes a long way when you’re glowing from the sun. These accents instantly make skin look more golden and fresh, meaning you can keep the rest of your makeup minimal (or skip it altogether). It’s playful, effortless, and perfect for warm, sunkissed days. Plus, you can enjoy your summer days longer as your glam prep time will be that much shorter but still striking!

Some of my favorites:

  • Saie Beauty Dewy Blush and Glossy Bounce
  • Goop Feather Lash Lifting Mascara
  • Westman Atelier Eye Want You Mascara
  • Goop Color Blur Glow Balm
  • YSE Beauty Hydrating Lip Tint

7. Sunscreen Layering
Yes, SPF is a must—but now I’m layering it smart. I start with a face tint that has SPF and always finish my SPF routine with my favorite’s is Eighth Day’s The Rejuvenating Moisturizing Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I love this because it was formulated by a brilliant physician and is primed to protect. A daily, silky-to-the-touch SPF primer with anti-aging benefits. Developed by skin cancer surgeon, Dr. Antony Nakhla, this zinc-only SPF primer is formulated with EpiZinc™—a proprietary, non-chemical, non-nanoparticle, sheer mineral sunscreen with natural pigments to neutralize white cast for all skin types and tones. I also keep an SPF stick like Supergoops! Unseen Stick SPF 40 in my bag for touch-ups. There are even scalp, lip and makeup with sunscreens in them now (and yes, I use them all. My favorite lip SPF is Soleil Toujour’s Peptide Hydra Lip Mask Tinted Gloss Balm with Mineral SPF 15. Reapplying doesn’t have to mess up your makeup or hair—finally. My ultimate go-to, a really great spray tan — this way I can have that constant bronzed glow without baking in the sun and putting myself at risk for skin cancer which is on the rise for young adults! My favorite, if I can snag an appointment, is with Erika Vasco of The Tan Edit. Available in NYC, The Hamptons, NJ and soon everywhere, this premiere spray tan for the stars and influencer favorite is bound to make you look like you were just vacationing in St. Tropez without any traces of residue like other spray tans can leave!

Final Thoughts
Summer beauty and wellness are about feeling light, balanced, and like yourself—just a little glowier. These trends aren’t about perfection. They’re about creating space for rituals that feel good, support your skin, health and help you thrive when the temps rise. Whether it’s a glossy lip or some extra hydration, it’s the little upgrades that make the biggest difference.

Here’s to long days, golden light, and feeling good in your skin and body all season long.
