Camila Mendes of Riverdale fame-and the internet could not get enough of it. The adidas ad had Mendes picking on a universal struggle of feeling like a fraud when running, while the text says, “Some run away from their thoughts, others like to sit with them. Whatever makes it easy, @camimendes. We’ll see you next session.” However, the real star of the show seems to be this random guy who drops unexpectedly deep wisdom.

That unexpected profundity gives birth to its fame with the going of the clip thus: Mendes and her thoughts admiring the fact that there are still some times she feels like she’s pretending to be a runner-ever wondering: “Am I doing this the right way? Are my legs really supposed to hurt this much?” Then, stone-cold; a dude interjects: “Maybe you got to quiet the noise down here to be free up here. Who even are you?” This one is a sure winner of the internet!
The mysterious man @herm.runs was an instant hit with the fans that later adored him and his ‘deep wisdom.’ “Deeply wise” said one user, followed by another who humorously added, “Get this guy on the big screen!” Herm replied seasoning this with his characteristic humility: “I think 12 seconds is about all the lines I can remember at once.”
Meanwhile, some seriously felt the presence of Riverdale’s voice-goodness; siren branding, adrenaline-boosting smooth talk from the alter ego. One comment reads, “I still hear Veronica Lodge,” while another responds, “Lmao so accurate.”
Others just appreciated the ad for being… well, genuinely good. “Haha, yes finally a good ad,” said one, with another chiming in with, “ABSOLUTE FAVORITE.” And let’s not kid ourselves: When was the last time somebody actually liked an ad?
Suddenly, nostalgia, as always, sprinkled a dusting on some viral moments. “Knew Herm before he was famous,” claimed one user, to which Herm replied, “He was better then.” Meanwhile, another fan chimed in with, “We all need a little @herm.runs motivation in our lives.”
The ad also resonated with the runners, who could relate to the insecurities Mourinho was expressing. Running is global, bringing everybody in,” explained a comment, proving even the celebrities get that whole ‘am I doing this right?’ panic.
That, to Teresa, is giving us just a little wink of, ‘Mendes embracing Adidas as the latest running ambassador even though she sometimes feels like a fraud.’ But hey, taking a cue from Herm, maybe she just has to ‘quiet the noise down here to be free up there.’ Or something like that.

The ad itself is a huge win: funny, relatable, and maybe even inspiring. At least, it blessed us with Herm, the down-to-earth, unexpected philosopher of running. Who even is he? Are we ever going to find out? But we’re glad he showed up.
