Police have concluded that the fan who fell to his death at one of Oasis’ ‘Live ‘25’ shows in London died in a “tragic accident”
Lee Claydon, aged 45, fell from an upper tier at London’s Wembley Stadium on August 2, at the end of one of the Britpop band’s seven shows there.
An inquest was opened at Barnet Coroner’s Court in September, and it was confirmed that Claydon was taken to a medical centre in Wembley after the fall. He died later that evening due to “multiple bodily injuries”.
Now, police have concluded that the incident was “a tragic accident” and confirmed that they do not “suspect any third party involvement”.
According to a report from Metro, Clayton fell from the upper tier balcony during the fireworks display at the end of the finale ‘Champagne Supernova’, and while he was found to have alcohol in his system, this was “normal for any of the people attending” the gig.
“From a police point of view, this is no longer a criminal prosecution,” Met Police’s Detective Sergeant James Raffin added at a hearing. “This, from everything we have seen, was a tragic accident. From a police point of view, I would say our investigation is complete.”

After news of Clayton’s death, other fans at the show came forward to share how they thought conditions in the stands “seemed unsafe”, and security were allegedly too “lax” considering the high level of alcohol consumption.
In August, a GoFundMe page launched in memory of Claydon, and has seen over £30,000 raised for his family. His father Clive also paid tribute to his son, describing him as a “a hard-working family man” who “loved his kid”.
Lee’s partner, Amanda also shared a touching post that described him as “the best person to be around”, and the family later expressed concerns about the “circumstances on the night”.
In his statement, Detective Sergeant Raffin clarified that he has acknowledged the issues highlighted by Claydon’s family, and will pass their concerns on to Brent Council for review.
A full inquest into the incident is set for February 26, 2026 – a date which Senior Coroner Andrew Walker says has been chosen as they will “have the police investigation report” by then.

Regarding claims that the venue was unsafe for fans, a spokesperson for Wembley Stadium told NME: “Wembley Stadium operates to a very high health and safety standard, fully meeting legal requirements for the safety of spectators and staff, and is certified to and compliant with the ISO 45001 standard.
“We work very closely and collaboratively with all relevant event delivery stakeholders – including event owners, local authorities, the Sports Ground Safety Authority and the police – to deliver events to high standards of safety, security and service for everyone attending or working in the venue.”
After hearing about the death of a fan at their show, Oasis issued a statement that read: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved”.
Liam Gallagher and co. are currently playing the final few shows of their ‘Live ‘25’ comeback tour, and will perform in Santiago, Chile, tonight (Wednesday November 19), before wrapping things up with two gigs in São Paulo on November 22 and 23.
