Every Disney+ Series Coming This Summer

In a minute-long trailer, Disney+ has showcased its summer 2021 line-up featuring both original and classic movies and TV shows. Some titles will be “new to Disney+” i.e. Disney-owned older films making their debut on the streaming service. There is no shortage of original content though, starting from June 4, Disney plans to release one or more original movies and/or TV series every week. Theatrical films like Black Widow and Jungle Cruise will only be available to watch if you pay an extra $30 “Premier Access” fee. Today, we are looking primarily at all the new series and returning Disney TV shows that the streaming app has to offer.

With the sheer quantity of content they are getting, Disney+ subscribers are in for a treat. One of the most anticipated shows of the summer, Loki is now streaming, so be sure to tune in weekly to find out what happens next to the God of Mischief in his first solo venture. Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as the titular character along with newcomers Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Other shows coming this summer from Disney+ include Zenimation, which is premiering its second season this June. The series that creates a mindfulness soundscape experience with scenes from the timeless films of Walt Disney Animation Studios, returns for all-new episodes. Enjoy moments from over eight decades of acclaimed films, including scenes from Disney’s first feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs all the way through to never-before-seen moments from Raya and the Last Dragon.

Another high profile series coming to Disney+ this summer is The Mysterious Benedict Society. Placed undercover at a boarding school known as The Institute, a group of orphans must foil a nefarious plot with global ramifications while creating a new sort of family along the way. Based on the bestseller by Trenton Lee Stewart which Time Magazine called “one of the best young adult books of all time,” The Mysterious Benedict Society stars Emmy® Award winner Tony Hale in the titular role and features a standout ensemble of young actors.

Also debuting this summer on Disney+ is the premiere of Wolfgang, which tracks Wolfgang Puck’s childhood. Monsters At Work brings all your favorite characters from Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University back for new animated adventures in a workplace setting. And Josh Peck takes over for Tom Hanks in the TV series version of Turner and Hooch, the classic 80s buddy cop comedy about a man and his very stubborn dog. Perhaps the most exciting new show is Growing Up Animal, which you can learn more about in the line-up below.

On the movie side of things, Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson will finally debut on July 7 after over a year-long delay. You can choose to watch the action-packed adventure in the theaters or from the comfort of your home for an extra $30. Another big theatrical release is the Dwayne Johnson and Emily blunt starrer Jungle Cruise which will release on July 30. Also coming is the new short Us Again. Some famous movies like The Pacifier and Mrs. Doubtfire will also release. Luca, an animated adventure set in the Italian Riviera featuring the voices of Jacob Tremblay and Jack Dylan Grazer promises to be a family-friendly watch from Pixar.

Also premiering this summer are documentary feature films Stuntman and Playing with Sharks. Stuntman chronicles the highs and lows of veteran Hollywood stuntman, Eddie Braun as he attempts what many argue is the most dangerous stunt in cinematic history. Braun decides to cap off an extraordinary career by recreating Evel Knievel’s infamous unsuccessful Snake River Canyon rocket jump. Playing with Sharks captures the life of Valerie Taylor – a woman ahead of her time whose life’s work has become the basis for much of what we know about sharks today. It will follow this daring ocean explorer’s trajectory from champion spearfisher to passionate shark protector. Here is a full list of TV shows.
