Emily Ratajkowski reveals new podcast

Model, mogul, New York Times best-selling author—and now she’s adding podcast host to her resume. Emily Ratajkowski announced today her latest venture, High Low, which will see two episodes drop each week, delving into everything from pop culture to politics. Launching November 1, in partnership with Sony, it will take the form of monologues about whatever EmRata is musing on that week—with some celeb guests thrown in for good measure. Speaking to The Cut about the decision to delve into audio, the single mom said: “…I have a specific point of view that I’m not sure the world knows that well. Once I decided I was publishing my book, I knew I wanted to start a podcast. Through the book, I felt like people were going to understand me, my politics, and who I am. But something about speaking directly to people has always appealed to me. I’m naturally driven to women’s issues and thinking about power. I just recorded an episode about feminism and plastic surgery: Is plastic surgery feminist, or is it the opposite?…I have ideas that pop into my head that I put in my Notes app, and a lot of those end up in essays or pieces of writing. But a lot of them didn’t because it takes time to flesh out ideas. The monologues are somewhere in between an essay and a TikTok. I’m really enjoying it thus far.”

Elizabeth Kurpis hosts intimate West Village luncheon to celebrate Lucy Delius

Divine jewels and Italian food? Don’t mind if we do. Chicette and fashion’s go-to lawyer Elizabeth Kurpis brought together a stylish crew recently to raise a glass to London-based jeweler and brand consultant Lucy Delius who was in town. Guests gathered at Sant Ambroeus’ West Village location to catch up and try on Lucy’s pieces for size and they also took out her new collection, CHAPTER II, for a test drive, with the vintage-inspired 14k gold and diamond pieces going down a treat. Tabletop menus and place cards were designed by Stephanie Fishwick and each guest was gifted personalized stationery by Memo Press and Venetian handblown glassware from Vanderohe Curio by Olivia Thorpe. Among those in attendance were Micaela Erlanger, Jessica Wang, Mary Leest, Sophie Elgort, Sarah Corbett-Winder, Dalia Oberlander, Zani Gugelmann, Jane Keltner de Valle, Stefanie Stein, Stephanie Nass, and Zach Weiss.

Neiman Marcus toasts Bach Mai’s CFDA Awards nomination

Editors and industry insiders gathered at Saint Theo’s last night for a cocktail celebration in honor of Bach Mai, who’s been nominated in the CFDA’s prestigious Emerging Designer of the Year category. Neiman Marcus hosted the event, as the Dallas-based luxury retailer is also exclusively launching the Texas-native’s Fall Winter ’22 collection (Collection 0). “We believe Bach Mai is an exciting force in the fashion world with a promising future,” Lana Todorovich, president and chief merchandising officer of Neiman Marcus, said of the Houston-born designer. “Bach uniquely understands American glamour and how to create haute couture designs in a distinguished way.” Having cut his teeth as a costume apprentice at  Houston Ballet and during stints at Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta, Mai’s career then took him to Paris where he held formative roles, including a spell at Maison Margiela under John Galliano. After launching his label just over one year ago, his name has already made waves in the worlds of editorial and red carpet styling, and his CFDA nom only serves to further cement that. (Voting is open now through October 24.) Among those who attended last night’s soirée were Versha Sharma, Stefano Tonchi, Mario Abad, Luke Meagher, Irina Grechko, Eliseé Browchuk, Ian Malone, Miguel Enamorado, Alex Badia, MaryKate Boylan, and Anahita Moussavian.

Monique Lhuillier unveils Fall 2023 Bridal

As New York becomes a hub of all things bridal fashion related this week, we’re actually turning our minds to the French countryside instead. That is, virtually at least, as Monique Lhuillier launches her Fall ’23 Bridal offering. This time around, the industry’s forerunning designer wanted to transport her clients to an 18th century chateau; an idyllic backdrop which certainly allowed her reliably romantic creations to shine. For the season, Lhuillier is placing a particular emphasis on lavender; a bloom known for its calming, relaxing properties. Something you don’t often associate with planning the big day! “My love of gardens is on full display in print, color, and silhouette,” she explained in her collection notes. “Lavender blooms dance over gowns with its calming and delicate beauty. A bouquet of garden roses and field flowers on chiffon and gazar add a sense of lightness and whimsy.” Coming up, there’s also the introduction of a dazzling silver sequin embroidered column gown (wall flowers, look away now!), as well as bubble hems, exaggerated hemlines, sculpted bodices, detachable capes, puff sleeves, matching opera gloves, and Watteau trains.
