The 2023 Golden Globes red carpet is officially underway at the Beverly Hilton in LA, with Hollywood’s biggest stars in TV and film arriving by the minute. With a guest list that includes Selena Gomez (nominated for “Only Murders in the Building”), “Wednesday“‘s Jenna Ortega, Rihanna, Margot Robbie, and Anya Taylor-Joy, the fashion promises to be thoughtful. It’s even likely celebs will pay sartorial homage to the projects they are being recognized for.
In the days leading up to the event, a video was posted to reveal confirmed seating for celebrities from some of 2022’s most prominent casts, including “Babylon,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “The Bear,” and “The White Lotus.” Of course, these include some of the best-dressed stars in the business.
While excitement is building for the 80th anniversary of the Golden Globes, which is airing on NBC, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has drawn mounting criticism for lack of representation in past years. Recently, however, HFPA President Helen Hoehne claimed that the organization is now 51.5 percent “racially and ethnically diverse,” with the addition of 103 members.
Fans are hopeful that the red carpet, the winners’ list, and the stage will reflect this renewed commitment to diversity. American comedian Jerrod Carmichael is set to host the Golden Globes ceremony, with producer and activist Laverne Cox fronting E!’s fashion coverage beforehand.
