How DARIA Y MARIA Became One of K-pop’s Most Wanted Brands

To get one thing straight, top stylists, publicists, and executives are paying serious attention to two designers from Europe, now based in the epicenter of entertainment, Los Angeles. Daria and Maria Vasilieva captivate with their brand, DARIA Y MARIA, producing electrifying pieces that turn heads.

Their rise was anything but easy. Born in a small Russian town, the twin sisters lost their parents at a young age and grew up in poverty.

Despite the hardships, they clung to their dream—not just of making clothes, but of being designers who would bring something new to the world of fashion, change the industry, and leave a mark on millions of people. They wanted to create something big in this life because they knew they had a great talent.

When they moved to LA, they faced unsuitable and discouraging circumstances, working grueling hours in a dusty, low-budget tailor shop just to afford rent and survive. While others used their free time to relax or go out, they didn’t have that privilege—every free moment was spent building their brand.

Without financial backing or connections, they took on everything themselves—designing, sewing, content creating, managing clients, and reaching out to stylists and buyers. Their persistence paid off when celebrity stylists finally noticed, especially after Jennie from BLACKPINK wore a custom DARIA Y MARIA outfit on stage.

They made waves by turning sports jerseys into high-fashion dresses that disrupted athletic wear. It was this ingenuity that captured the interest of stylists across the industry, leading to major collaborations with K-pop stars like Twice Japan, Illit, Gfriend, and BadVillain. Most recently, Christina Aguilera’s stylist requested a bespoke ensemble made from an old sports jersey for her highly anticipated concert in Brazil.
As DARIA Y MARIA continues its ascent, it encounters a telling sign of growth—counterfeits. Rather than feeling discouraged, Daria and Maria see it as an opportunity to advocate for the value of genuine artistry. They continue to educate consumers on the importance of authenticity, knowing that, in the end, originality always surpasses imitation.

As of press time, the talented duo is hard at work, incessantly polishing their innate skills in aesthetics with the aim of getting featured at events, namely the Oscars, Grammys, SAG Awards, Met Gala, and beyond. In addition, their newest AW’25 collection pushes the common conventions of style as they brilliantly blend active culture with upscale craftsmanship. Each piece is assembled using vintage football and basketball jerseys, intricately reconstructed with ruffles, patches, and rhinestones.

Remarkably, Daria and Maria meticulously source rare materials, staying true to their belief that sustainability can be both cutting-edge and glamorous. They integrated artificial intelligence into their recent lookbook, presenting a futuristic muse who embodies the next evolution of fashion. To Daria and Maria, success is a journey of evolving and setting new standards. With every stitch, every silhouette, and every statement article, they are proving that true artisanal masterpieces require focus and sleepless nights—and soon, it will all pay off. Better watch out, because they are more than ready to take over the fashion universe.
