Gary Owen Jokes About The Struggles Of Being A Comedian

Gary Owen has just unleashed unto the unsuspecting world the truth about what happens every time he tells someone that he is a comedian, and the truth is itself comedy. He posted this funny and so very real clip moment on Instagram in which he describes how suddenly people begin to pressurize him into performing. The caption reads: “Anytime I tell someone I’m a comedian, they always ask this.” He then plays his new special, No “S,” at mintcomedy.com.

Over the comments? Pure gold. Gary’s posting was like a throwing stone: people went crazy relaying individual tales of experiences they personally shared. One user by the handle cherieluv1122 gave an interesting account of how they will walk any length to escape conversation on airplanes: “Lol. That’s Me please leave Me ALONE so I can have a Peaceful and Quiet ✈️, That’s why as soon as I get on a Plane I out my Earplugs in and I’m Sleep 😴 💤.” That’s a great mood.

Then there was blackknight5753, talking about Gary and his old guy disguise signature on a plane: “This explains why you were dressed as the old man on the plane lol I’m from Cincinnati so I didn’t blow your cover next time.Have sean dress up as well lol”. Classic stuff, this.

gman1258 wasn’t playing along with the thing, though: “I don’t like talking to people ever, anywhere.” Same energy as an indoor person wearing indoor shades.

So true, with hernandez.sebastian_04 muscling in on this military analogy: “That’s literally military; ‘Oh, my neighbor/kid/nephew/etc. (insert full name) is in the Navy; yeah, he is stationed (anywhere but my boat) do you know him?’ Yup, every service member has been there.”

Shart.keisha714 nailed the stand-up difficulty with this: “ACCURATE AF 😂 when I’m asked to say a joke, I say I’m not on the clock.” One reply contained a person talking about translating ancient scrolls during the Vietnam War, which, you know, why not?

Kvoncomedy came in hot defending Frank Smith’s comedy skill only in Milwaukee for some reason, while moyney6bojnus opted to play all, “I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a millionaire with a big heart.” Quite fascinating.

From there, these comments were a jumble-ball of people promising they would disturb gary on flights (bama.2818), others who said they’d just awkwardly smile at him (msmosaic2), another guy even mentioning how he would just pretend to have earbuds (maryottjohn) to avoid that small talk.

Shawnlynn71 may have hollered an upcoming pilot show; howebee compared it to cops and firefighters being recognized, while thicc_thigh_lover4life slipped in a little mention about ‘Dude Ballin in Dublin, OH’- no context; just vibes.

B.farrar made a LeBron reference (??) gi_gi_65 wrote a whole dissertation about imaginary plane-seating arrangements.

Gary’s post, clearly, hit home. Small talk cuts straight to the heart, whoever it is systematically name it: comedian or one-guy military. If you’ve somehow missed his new special just now, grab the opportunity; but don’t ask him to tell you a joke during a flight.
