The Recording Academy brought K-Pop applications with the biggest news: Supreme Boi BUMZU, Wonderkid, and Slow Rabbit-the four biggest producers and songwriters in the genre-will be inducted as New Members in the 2025 Class. These producers align with the generational lineup behind many of the greatest hits for BTS, SEVENTEEN, LE SSERAFIM, ENHYPEN, and many others, empowering K-Pop with an electrifying global aesthetic brought to life by their dynamic beats and alluring transitions. An announcement graphic was released as well, showcasing the producers across a grid in energetic blue, exuding their own unique studio vibe ranging from chilled hoodie energy to an intense keyboard-banging one.

Of course, the internet had some thoughts. While many expressed excitement over the worthy acknowledgement, a few fans were simply left wondering about the omission of other heavy-hitters like Pdogg, who has been a member of the Academy since 2019. “Congrats to all but P-Doggy wya??!” read one disgruntled comment from the user. This comment was followed by another corrective comment: “Pdogg already in 2019 alongside BTS and BSH.” Oops! But that didn’t stop them from hyping Pdogg, with yet another user commenting, “Pdogg deserves to be there too ✨️👌🏼,” showing just how K-Pop fans won’t miss an opportunity to defend their favorites.
The wild tangent… into Soyeon discourse? All of a sudden, a user provocatively said, “Soyeon outdid all of em,” sparking a short battle in the reply section. One replied, “Lmao 😭 u didn’t say that to real producers who produced songs before SOYEON became an idol, right?……. Girl They are real producers not idols who write songs for themselves GG stfup.” Another said, “Just Bumzu himself has more musical credits than SOYEON, imagine all these producers together.” Yikes. The comeback flowed endlessly, with the original commenter told to “cala a boca” (shut up) toward the end. There was never a dull moment on K-Pop Twitter—err, Instagram comments.
The BUMZU stan squad really had to shine in the middle of all the madness. One emotional stan was, “So happy to see Bumzu getting more recognition recently. Carats know just how amazing he is,” while another simply declared, “The Best of Producer Ever BumZu님.✨✨✨,” because sometimes less is more. The prospective ones started suggesting future inductees immediately, with cries for EL CAPITXN, Adora, and even a random call for PinkPantheress (“a referral please for PinkPantheress”). Why not?
However, the party was not universal. An skeptic eyes the record from the Grammys and remarks, “They are amazing at what they do but we know the Grammys are racist so they never recognize them.” One takes it even higher, “I wonder how many homophobic judges you guys are hiding behind the doors?” Oof. The problematic history of the Grammys concerning diversity isn’t exactly a secret, and K-Pop fans will not be letting them off the hook anytime soon.
The post became, meanwhile, a random wishlist, as users spammed requests that everyone from Yeji to Addison Rae (yes, that)is going to get a nod. One overly ambitious fan demanded, “appointment for please: Addison rae, Pinkpantheress, Madison beer, Tate mcrae and rene rapp!” Cuckoo bird indeed, but hey shoot your shot.

Of course, that at least meant something major-this is proof that the K-Pop behind-the-scenes geniuses are finally getting their flowers traded on the international stage. Whether it be haunted melodies from Slow Rabbit or bombastic kicks from Wonderkid, these have been producers whose music has been the soundtrack to millions of lives in multiple languages. And from here, judging from the comments section, the fans will fight tooth and nail in order to remember them. Now if the Grammys would actually sort out their malevolent other concerns, that would be swell. Until then, let the greatest K-Pop producers bask in their glory- stream all their albums and pray that the Academy doesn’t mess up again next year.
