The latest wind in the fan house is Tom Cruise, who poured out his heart in an extraordinary social media post for long-time BA Christopher McQuarrie. Action superstar Cruise took to X to pay tribute to the director of the Mission: Impossible franchise with words much heavier than any stunt.

After calling McQuarrie “dear friend” and “creative brother,” he went all out to shower accolades on him, calling him “director of the year” and “pure artist for all time.”
The most dramatic black-white photo in this post saw McQuarrie looking every bit the vision of cinema. Now, was that a little hint about their upcoming project? Given how these two roll, totally possible.
Their creative partnership has birthed some jaw-dropping stunts over the last few years, from Mission: Impossible franchise to aerial ballet in Top Gun: Maverick.
As soon as the post was out, comments began pouring in from fans. Alexandre Rispal well praised, “What a great track”; while Heath C. Poole took the opportunity to say Cruise is ‘the greatest Movie Star of all time.’
However, not everyone was feeling love: Bill left a sarcastic comment of “Hail to the Elites who do make money by make-believe.”
The most interesting reply from Katherine Whitlock cryptically stated, “247 gets worse badly love you more than you know.” What does that even mean? Meanwhile, user Giò was begging Cruise to look after her sick mom, calling him a “strong Angel.” The things people ask celebrities, honestly.
The timing couldn’t have been better for this kind of public display of creative bromance. With Mission: Impossible 8 (yes, EIGHT) looming and rumors of yet another Top Gun installation, Cruise and McQuarrie really have a lot more in store for the cinema.
They have also carved out a very lovely success story in Hollywood history for this director-actor duo-very much in the same league as Scorsese and DiCaprio.

Salcombe sums up the sentiment: “The SUPERB duo,” and rightly so. Could not have put it better. Watch the top-action game, these two are going to keep proving it, be it hanging off airplanes or flying fighter jets. Now, just if they could spill some tea on what insane stunt Cruise is prepping for next.
