10 Best Netflix Original Shows That Turn 10 in 2025

Netflix has been the top dog in streaming services for over a decade now. It has the most subscribers of any paid streaming service and features some of the most well-known shows and movies over that time period. Some of the shows have gone on to win Emmys and Golden Globes, and some of them have completely taken over the pop culture zeitgeist. Series like Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Squid Game have become cultural phenomena.

2015 was a banner year for the streaming service, as it produced some of its best-known shows that fans came to love. It is impressive how some of these shows have stayed relevant, and some have become forgotten classics. Here are 10 shows that turned 10 in 2025.

‘Daredevil’ (2015 – 2018)

In 2015, Daredevil was released as the lead-in to The Defenders miniseries, which was slated to bring together some of the lesser-known Marvel characters into the main timeline of the MCU. Charlie Cox plays Murdoch, the blind lawyer who turns vigilante at night.

Created by Drew Goddard, the series features Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Ayelet Zurer, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is also introduced in the second season, leading into his series. Many of the main characters appear again in Daredevil: Born Again, which was released in 2025.

‘Narcos’ (2015 – 2017)

Created by veteran TV writer Chris Brancato along with Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, Narcos takes a look at the DEA’s investigation into drug lord Pablo Escobar. Pedro Pascal stars in all three seasons as a DEA agent tasked with helping to bring down the Medellin Cartel and later the Cali Cartel. Wagner Moura provides an enigmatic performance as Escobar. Boyd Holbrook is the DEA agent in charge of leading the takedown of Escobar.

The series shows the nitty-gritty of the wars between drug cartels and gives an inside look at not only the investigation into taking them down, but the actual carrying out of said takedown. The show draws from historical information to convey these real-life stories, making it all the more realistic and worthy of fans’ time. It was followed by Narcos: Mexico as a spin-off series.

‘Jessica Jones’ (2015 – 2019)

The second Marvel series to set up The Defenders, Krysten Ritter plays the eponymous character, who is a former superhero who runs her own detective agency. Jones has superhuman strength but suffers from PTSD from her previous role. Ritter was the top choice to play the role and does a terrific job as Jones, harking on her previous role in Breaking Bad to highlight the character’s more undesirable tendencies.

The series also features Mike Colter as Luke Cage (who went on to get his own Marvel series as a part of The Defenders lineup), Erin Moriarty, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, Wil Traval, and J.R. Ramirez. David Tennant’s Kilgrave is the main villain of Jessica Jones, as this series features more superpowers and magic than the grittier Daredevil.

‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ (2015 – 2019)

Ellie Kemper’s first star turn was on The Office as the lovable secretary, Erin. She took that good-natured approach and used it for her role as Kimmy Schmidt in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The series is about a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult in the Midwest and starts her life anew in New York. Kimmy is the ultimate optimist and finds her niche in the city by befriending Titus Burgess’s Titus Andromedon, whom she lives with.

Their landlady Lillian is played by Carol Kane, who has been a lifelong New Yorker and provides an old-school mentality to making it in the city. The series was created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, who cast Jane Krakowski, Fey’s 30 Rock costar, as Jacqueline, for whom Kimmy is a nanny. The series ran for four seasons and received 20 Primetime Emmy nominations. It ended with a unique interactive movie on Netflix.

‘Sense8’ (2015 – 2018)

Sense8 was created by The Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski and ran for two seasons, with a holiday special in between them. The series focuses on eight people who realized they are sensates, or people who are emotionally and mentally connected, despite being strangers and being placed all over the world. The show took a hard look at empathy across boundaries and being connected to people who might not be alike.

Sense8 stars Aml Ameen, Bae Doona, Jamie Clayton, Tuppence Middleton, Tina Desai, Max Riemelt, Miguel Angel Silvestre, and Brian J. Smith as the sensates. Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah, Freema Agyeman, Terrence Mann, and Anupam Kher also star. The series was ultimately cancelled because of its high production costs, despite having a loyal fanbase.

‘Grace and Frankie’ (2015 – 2022)

Grace and Frankie ran for seven seasons on Netflix and was created by Friends scribe Marta Kaufman and Howard J. Morris. The series features Jane Fonda as Grace and Lily Tomlin as Frankie, two women who are thrust into each other’s lives after their husbands, played by Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen, reveal they have been hiding a secret relationship for years and plan to marry one another. Grace and Frankie ultimately become best friends, and their adventures and misadventures carried the show throughout its tenure.

Fonda is a no-nonsense cosmetics mogul who has a sharp wit and delivers scathing takedowns, and Tomlin is a carefree artist whose quirky nature perfectly offsets Fonda. The series also features June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, and Baron Vaughn. Tomlin earned four Emmy nominations for her role, and Fonda earned one.

‘Master of None’ (2015 – 2021)

Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang created Master of None, a comedy series starring Ansari as Dev, an unlucky actor living in New York trying to navigate life and love as a 30-something. The show follows Dev as he tries to balance his career, his parents, and the ridiculous scenarios he gets himself into. Eric Wareheim plays his best friend, Arnold, while Lena Waithe plays one of his other friends, Denise.

Noel Wells plays his love interest in the first season, and Alessandra Mastronardi does so in the second season, which takes place mostly in Italy. The show was revered for its sharp wit and innovative storytelling, with Ansari’s performance being lauded as well as his decision to cast his real parents as his character’s parents in the show. The third season focused on Waithe’s character. Ansari will next be seen in his directorial debut.

‘Bloodline’ (2015 – 2017)

Featuring a tremendous cast, Bloodline focuses on the Rayburn family who own and operate an inn in the Florida Keys. The family is made up of Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepard as the parents, Kyle Chandler as the second son, who is a police detective, Ben Mendelsohn, who is the eldest son and the black sheep of the family, Norbert Leo Butz as the youngest son who has an anger issue, and Linda Cardellini as the daughter who is an attorney. They all get together for a family celebration, and Mendelsohn’s Danny returns after being away for a while.

His reappearance brings a lot to light, and the family is forced to keep dark secrets buried that had been so for years. It’s a taut thriller that earned three seasons. Mendelsohn won an Emmy for his role. The show is first and foremost a family drama with some crime aspects thrown in. It is interesting how Chandler’s character has to react to situations as a police detective when his family is involved. Bloodline was created by the same writers who made Damages.

‘F Is for Family’ (2015 – 2021)

Co-created by Bill Burr and Michael Price, F is for Family is an animated series that takes place in 1970s Pennsylvania. The Murphy family, voiced by Burr, Laura Dern, Justin Long, Haley Reinhart, and Debi Derryberry, is an Irish-American family trying to live the American Dream. The series features a massive cast of actors who added voices in, like Mo Collins, Kevin Michael Richardson, Joe Buck, Kevin Farley, David Koechner, Trevor Devall, Phil Hendrie, Jonathan Banks, Patti Lupone, and more.

The show is a great example of dark adult humor coming through in a cartoon. It may portray some exaggerated situations, but it’s an honest look at what being in a close-knit family is like, especially in the ’70s. Burr’s unique sense of humor comes through his character, as the sense of compassion through a tough exterior is what makes Frank the lifeblood of the show’s episodes.

‘Making a Murderer’ (2015 – 2018)

The true crime docuseries Making a Murderer became a hotly discussed topic when it debuted in 2015. It follows Steven Avery, a man who was exonerated after being wrongfully convicted of a sexual assault and attempted murder in 1985. He served 18 years in prison before being released. He was then charged and convicted in the 2005 murder of another woman.

His nephew, Brendan Dassey, was also convicted in the murder case. The series follows both Steven’s exoneration and the subsequent trials of him and Dassey. Making a Murderer focuses a lot on the ineptitude of the attorneys in the cases, which led to it being a controversial series. It was lauded by fans and critics and won four Primetime Emmys.
