A pair of new posters for director Andrew Dominik’s upcoming Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde, offer a vintage look at lead actress Ana de Armas as the Hollywood icon. Shared to social media by DiscussingFilm, the posters once again demonstrate the stunning likeness that Knives Out star Ana de Armas has to Marilyn Monroe, with the promos wonderfully recreating the iconography of the 1950s.
The two new posters have Ana de Armas recreate real-life images of Marilyn Monroe. Blonde will be led by Blade Runner 2049 and No Time to Die star Ana de Armas as Norma Jeane Mortensen AKA Marilyn Monroe. After a traumatic childhood, Norma Jeane Mortensen becomes an actress in Hollywood in the 1950s and early 1960s. Transforming herself into a world-famous movie star under the pseudonym Marilyn Monroe, her on-screen appearances are in stark contrast to the love issues, exploitation, abuse of power, and drug addiction she faced in her private life.

Ana de Armas Committed Herself to Bringing Marilyn Monroe to Life as Accurately as Possible in Blonde
Netflix
Actress Ana de Armas has discussed how committed she was to honoring Marilyn Monroe and bringing her to life in Blonde as accurately as possible. A Cuban and Spanish actress, de Armas has revealed that she worked with a dialect coach for some time in order to emulate Monroe’s voice, with the actress explaining the importance of allowing a Cuban actress to portray one of the most famous American film stars of all time.
“I do want to play Latina. But I don’t want to put a basket of fruit on my head every single time,” she said. “So that’s my hope, that I can show that we can do anything if we’re given the time to prepare, and if we’re given just the chance, just the chance. You can do any film — Blonde — you can do anything.”
The role of Marilyn Monroe is one that Ana de Armas really wanted, with the actress convinced that she could do the role the justice it deserves. “I only had to audition for Marilyn once and Andrew said ‘It’s you,’ but I had to audition for everyone else,” she explained. “The producers. The money people. I always have people I needed to convince. But I knew I could do it. Playing Marilyn was groundbreaking. A Cuban playing Marilyn Monroe. I wanted it so badly.”
Blonde is scheduled to be released on September 23, 2022 by Netflix.
