Check out the first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One below.
Released in 2018 and directed by The Office star John Krasinski, the first A Quiet Place revolves around a father and a mother who struggle to survive and rear their children in a post-apocalyptic world that is now inhabited by blind monsters who can hear, well, everything. A Quiet Place proved to be a huge critical and financial hit upon release, with reviews praising the world-building amid such a wonderfully simple premise.
Taking audiences back to the beginning, A Quiet Place: Day One will explore the start of the silence, something which Nyong’o thinks “will arrest many.”
“This notion of a quiet New York is one that will arrest many. It’s an impossible thing to imagine…. When you live there, you block out all the sound quite naturally. You just forget to hear the sound. I realized how hard it would be to survive in a world that required you to be silent in that particular city.”
Speaking EW (who have also released several images which you can check out below), Nyong’o reveals a major difference between the first A Quiet Place and its sequel: the lack of family.
“When you have a family, there is an innate expectation that they will want to stick together. We don’t have that in this film. We have these disparate individuals who collide into each other’s lives, and it is at a very pivotal time for the world. How do they negotiate survival together? What we get is really interesting — and even surprising — chemistry in the characters that meet each other along the way.”
