If there was any doubt that Hugh Jackman is one of the coolest celebrities on the planet, we now have additional video evidence. A new video posted to Instagram by “Nott Summers Cosplay” features a hilarious interaction between a cosplayer named Alex and Jackman. The Deadpool & Wolverine star is currently on a press tour for the summer blockbuster and meeting fans, and gave Alex the memory of a lifetime, reenacting a classic scene from the original X-Men film from 2000, with a hilarious twist.
In the video, Alex is dressed as Scott Summers, better known as the X-Man Cyclops, and is standing alongside Jackman at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in London. Rather than wearing the black costume Cyclops wore in the X-Men films, Alex’s costume is the traditional blue and yellow outfit Cyclops wore in the comics and cartoons like the original 1992 X-Men animated series. Jackman asks Alex “You actually go outside wearing that?” Alex then responds with “What would you expect, black leather?”
The quote, of course, is a twist on a scene from the original X-Men film, when Cyclops answers Logan’s question sarcastically with “What would you prefer, yellow spandex?” Needless to say, the response on Instagram was overwhelmingly positive. When a commentor to the post asked about Jackman’s reaction to filming the video, Alex replied “He loved it!”
When the first X-Men film opened in 2000, director Bryan SInger and studio 20th Century Fox wanted it to be taken as seriously as 1989’s Batman was, and not dismissed as a kid’s film. To that end, costumes were a more realistic black leather, and did not feature the comic-accurate colors many fans had hoped for. Comic book films, and moviegoers’ tastes, have evolved since then, and colored spandex in superhero outfits is no longer taboo. Jackman’s Wolverine never embraced his blue-and-yellow outfit until now, and fans are ready for it.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Legacy
As comic book movies seem to be in a constant state of reboot and revival, recasting major characters is common. However, Hugh Jackman has been the one and only live-action Wolverine for over two decades, as his iconic performance has become the definitive version of the character, even transcending the comic books in the minds of many. The original 2000 film made Jackman an overnight superstar, and began a renaissance in comic book movies that birthed the current MCU and DCU.
Deadpool & Wolverine marks Jackman’s tenth film as Logan/Wolverine, although some appearances were limited to cameos. Jackman’s cinematic appearances as Wolverine are as follows (in chronological order):
- X-Men (2000)
- X2: X-Men United (2003)
- X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
- X-Men: First Class (2011)
- The Wolverine (2013)
- X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
- X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
- Logan (2017)
- Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
While many fans assumed Deadpool & Wolverine would be Jackman’s swan song for the character, he isn’t ruling out another appearance in the MCU. During his current press tour for the film, Jackman was asked about doing another MCU film. He answered the question with “I don’t know how to answer,” which is news in itself, as he didn’t immediately rule it out.
Deadpool & Wolverine
