John Goodman Flaunts His Amazing Body Transformation at The Freak Brothers Red Carpet

Famed veteran actor John Goodman has established himself as an inspiration to people who have been having trouble shedding that extra weight. The Big Lebowski star recently showed off his amazing body transformation at the Red Carpet premiere of Tubi’s The Freak Brothers. Goodman has managed to lose over 100 lbs in the past decade, at 69 years old.

John Goodman currently voices the character ‘Fat Freddy’ in the animated comedy The Freak Brothers. However, as it turns out, Goodman is now the opposite of the character he plays. While Fat Freddy is an overweight stoner, Goodman adopted a rather disciplined lifestyle to achieve the transformation he is flaunting now.

He rocked his slimming new look by sporting an orange V-neck sweater over a blue-collared shirt, rounded off with a pair of denim jeans and a blazer.

Goodman’s transformation is astonishing, but not surprising, as he has been on the path to wellness for a while now. Back in 2011, the Monsters Inc. actor revealed to David Letterman that he was pushing 400 lbs. That was when he was at his heaviest. However, Goodman has been on a healthier lifestyle since then, and in 2018, he said in an interview with the American Association of Retired Persons Magazine that he intends to hold on to his 100 lb weight loss. He credits his transformation mostly to an eating habit called ‘portion control’ — choosing a healthy amount of a certain food. However, he jokingly added,

But I don’t want to be an example to anybody when the weight comes thundering back on — when I start eating Crisco out of the can with a spoon and a side of confectioners’ sugar.

The actor had previously talked about the times when his condition worsened, especially after he parted ways with Roseanne, the ABC sitcom. Goodman had a falling out towards the end of the show, and ultimately walked away from it for good. However, it took a major toll on his health.

I was in pretty bad shape when I left Roseanne, to be honest. I had a lot of resentment. I just didn’t care. It was a terrible character fault of mine. I always wanted more of something. There was an emptiness inside me. I still have it, but I know what it is now. You recognize it and go, ‘There it is.’ You don’t have to fill it with another pork chop or a drink.

But Goodman managed to turn it around by participating in a healthier lifestyle and cutting out sugar and alcohol from his life, in addition to exercising six days a week. And that resulted in the transformation that has surprised everyone.
