Cliffhanger, one of two Sylvester Stallone features from 1993 (and one of his most underrated action films ever), will be available to stream in December on Paramount+. The streamer is adding several big titles next month, with Cliffhanger being one of the most exciting titles in the refreshed library.
Cliffhanger is set to be added to Paramount+ on December 1, and fans will be able to enjoy this underrated Stallone epic in all its glory. Known for its big-scale set pieces and its nail-biting opening sequence, the expensive movie ($70 million in 1993 was quite the production budget) made over $255 million at the box office and proved Stallone could still drive ticket sales.

Action star Sylvester Stallone has a magnet to drive audiences to theaters, and these are his highest-grossing films that prove it.
Directed by Renny Harlin, Cliffhanger presented audiences with Stallone’s official return to the genre after being absent for several years. 1993 was also the year Demolition Man was released worldwide, so it was a huge year for the action star.
Although it was one of the highest-grossing films of that year, it was mentioned at the Golden Raspberry Awards. Ironically, it was also nominated for three Academy Awards in 1994, but that was the year that Spielberg’s Jurassic Park took home the prizes in the technical categories.
Stallone’s Signature Action Work is All Over ‘Cliffhanger’
Today, Cliffhanger still looks great. The special effects are spotless, and the cinematography makes you feel like you’re there sweating beside Stallone, though not with the same muscular build. It’s an engrossing movie experience starring one of the greats in the action genre, but also a great secondary cast that includes John Lithgow, Michael Rooker, Rex Linn, and Caroline Goodall, among others. A modern action movie only wishes to have a star-studded cast like this.
Stallone’s other ’93 offering, Demolition Man, is a fan-favorite movie that often steps into comedy territory, while Cliffhanger presents a physically outstanding Stallone at 46. Talks about a sequel were active for some time, but Stallone recently confirmed he wouldn’t participate in the now legacy sequel. We’ll have to stick with Cliffhanger landing on Paramount+ to revisit one of Stallone’s greatest action characters.
