Xolo Mariduena shows his support for the strike and announces that he will not be promoting Blue Beetle. After weeks of negotiations, SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP failed to reach an agreement and the Hollywood actors’ union began its strike today, joining writers who have been demanding a better labor contract with the big studios and streaming companies for almost three months now.
The cessation of activities of the writers has already caused the delay of several productions in development, including another of Mariduena’s great projects, the last season of Cobra Kai. And now, with the actors joining the protests, the productions that were already filming and those that had to be promoted prior to their premiere, such as Blue Beetle, have also stopped.
Through his Instagram page, the actor shared a video to express his support for the union’s cause, confirming that the new DC movie will not be promoted while the strike continues, as well as giving a heartfelt message to the team behind the film due to everything they had prepared before its release and inviting the fans to see it in theaters:
“We had so much great stuff aligned and I really wish that we could get it to you guys but we need to stand on the right side of history and because of that we’re planting our feet in the ground. With that being said, this is a fantastic movie and you know, it needs to be seen on the bigger screen. It was so fantastic to get to film my first movie for IMAX, and work with such a phenomenal cast and crew.”
