Iggy Pop announces support acts for 2025 London show

Iggy Pop has announced the support acts for his forthcoming show in London – find all the details below.

The punk icon is due to play a “landmark”, career-spanning set at Alexandra Palace in the capital on May 28, before heading to Glasgow on June 3 to play the city’s O2 Academy.

When confirming the pair of gigs last November, Iggy promised that he’d be joined by some “special guests” and a band of “celebrated collaborators”. He later added a Manchester concert on May 31, following “phenomenal demand” for tickets.

Now, it’s been confirmed that London punk duo Bob Vylan will be supporting Iggy at Ally Pally along with Joe & The Shitboys. The latter band, who are from the Faroe Islands, are also set to open the dates in Manchester and Glasgow.

In an announcement video, Iggy said: “Hello, London. I’m coming to Ally Pally [on] May 28th. Bob Vylan and Joe & The Shitboys are gonna be there. The two most exciting bands in the world today, other than my own.

“We’re gonna kick out the jams – come on out. Meet the love of your night. Give the love of your night. Be there.” Find any remaining tickets here, and check out the clip in the post below.

Back in 2020, Joe & The Shitboys featured in the NME 100 – our annual list of essential new artists for the year ahead.

The entry read: “A band of self-proclaimed ‘bisexual vegans’, Joe & The Shitboys dedicate much time to roasting backwards bigots, in their native Faroe Islands (population: less than 50,000) and beyond. Punchy and chaotic – and over almost as soon as they begin – most songs clock in well under the two minute mark, and waste no time in dispatching witty, searing takedowns.”

Their debut album, ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes’, earned a four-star review from NME later that same year: “[The record] sees Joe & The Shitboys capture the wonderful chaos of their live show without losing the impact of their progressive lust for life. It might not be the prettiest punk rock going, but it’s definitely the most fun.”

They have since followed up their first LP with ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes Again’ (2021) and ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes III’ (2024).

Reviewing one of the group’s live gigs in 2019, NME wrote: “Lead singer, Fríði, writhes across the stage for over 40 minutes fuelled with both anger at the injustices both home and abroad, and a wicked sense of humour. No-one is safe from their cheeky tongue and no-bullshit approach.”

Bob Vylan, meanwhile, released their third album ‘Humble As The Sun’ last spring. In a four-star review, NME described the project as “electrifying, experimental and empowering”. It added: “The punk duo’s new album takes on a wider musical approach, but their lyrics remain as fierce as ever.” The band had previously been championed by NME Radar.

Iggy Pop is also scheduled to top the bill at Bearded Theory 2025 in May ahead of his UK headline shows. He’ll also perform in Dublin before making appearances at various European festivals, including Rock Werchter and Mad Cool.

In other news, Iggy released a new live album called ‘Live At Montreux Jazz Festival 2023’ last month. His 19th and latest solo LP, ‘Every Loser’, arrived in 2023.
