Jack Osbourne explains why Osbourne Media House shut down

Jack Osbourne has opened up about why Osbourne Media House was shut down after only a few months of operation.

According to the website’s official About page, Osbourne Media House has been described as “your multimedia hub for everything Osbourne” and “serves as a portal to a wide range of content, including original series, both classic and contemporary, podcasts, merchandise, family news, subscription boxes, exclusive content, early access, creator interaction, fan engagement, and a thriving community.”

Osbourne Media House was launched back in April 2024 and featured programmes such as The Osbournes podcast and Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Billy Morrison’s series The Madhouse Chronicles.

Now, in a new video shared by Jack – Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s son – on his official YouTube channel, the British-American media personality explained what had happened with the multimedia hub and all the issues they had dealt with which led the group to “pause” the company.

“The reason Osbourne Media shut down, it’s not a simple answer; it’s a very long-winded answer, but I’m gonna try and make it as short and as concise and as easy to digest,” he began.

Jack shared that the decision had “nothing to do with our viewers”, explaining that it was an “amazing experience” to have “direct ability to create exactly what we wanted and then release it to our fans the way we wanted it, how we wanted it.”

However, he explained that “The big thing is just that — we were learning how to do this.”

He continued: “I started Osbourne Media House on a just an idea. I saw the way media was going, how TV was drying up — it is drying up. I saw that creative content really, at least in my opinion, is the way forward for people like myself. I am not an actor, I am not a musician. I have always worked in television, either in front of the camera as talent, and I use that word loosely, or as a producer. But TV’s changing.

“The money just isn’t there anymore. And the kind of post-COVID shift has really been affected not only with me, but through the entire industry. Content is just changing. And so I wanted to change with it. And I thought creating some kind of media company where we were creating and distributing our own content, we had a paywall, we had OsbourneMediaHouse.com —the vision that is Osbourne Media House was something that myself and my team, we kind of brought out of nothing. It was self-funded.”

He revealed that the whole family had “put in funds” to get Osbourne Media House off the ground and admitted that they had “bit off more than we could chew.” Jack said that they were learning from their mistakes and “relying on information from other people about ‘Okay, how do we grow this? How do we change the direction?’”, which eventually led them to hit a wall.

He explained that both Sharon and Ozzy “Were, like, ‘Hey, listen, we don’t wanna keep financially dumping money into this because we don’t see this as something that makes sense for us right now’”, with that decision being based off of their work schedules, Ozzy’s health and “everyone just kind of having life.”

Jack continued: “So, [it was down to] scheduling, the financials of it, and I think those two things were really weighing on everyone. So there was a decision that was made that unless we kind of figured it out by August that we were gonna have to hit the pause button on Osbourne Media House, and that’s what happened.”

In other news, Ozzy recently recalled his disdain for the Christmas period and opened up about the time that he drank “28 gallons” of alcohol to get through it.

Elsewhere, Ozzy’s Black Sabbath bandmate Geezer Butler recently shared that the Prince Of Darkness has plans for the band to get together for one final show.

Rumours about the possibility of a one-off reunion show from the band have been swirling in recent months, particularly since Osbourne shared that he would “jump at the chance” to play a final Black Sabbath show with co-founding drummer Bill Ward.
