Lana Del Rey reveals her upcoming album will not “come on time”, and it’s no longer titled ‘The Right Person Will Stay’

Lana Del Rey has shared with fans that her upcoming album will not “come on time” – and that, whenever it does, it’ll have a new title.

Barely a day after the release of new single ‘Henry, Come On Over’, Del Rey took to Instagram Reels to talk to fans about recording the song, along with more details for her upcoming album, which has previously been named as ‘Lasso’ and, until yesterday, ‘The Right Person Will Stay’, which the singer announced was due for a May 21 release.

Towards the end of the clip, Del Rey looks to wrap up her video message – which also covered her upcoming set at country music festival Stagecoach 2025 – before slipping a tidbit about the album: “You know it’s not gonna come on time, right?” she said, wincing. “Should I even tell you that the name changed again? Maybe I’ll wait.”

She also revealed that another single from the album, ‘Blue Bird’, will be released sometime next week. Watch her video message below.

With the recent release of ‘Henry, Come On Over’, eagle-eyed fans noticed that its cover art was taken from an iPhone screenshot of sorts.

Del Rey previously told fans on Instagram that the now as-yet-titled album will comprise 13 tracks – two of which are ‘Henry, Come On’ and ‘Blue Bird’.

The ‘West Coast’ singer had already confirmed that the new record would see her venture into country music and that regular collaborator Jack Antonoff and country musician Luke Laird would be involved. However, the title changed as Del Rey had previously said the album would be called ‘Lasso’.

‘Henry, Come On’ also marks her first solo release in two years, as well as her first release since July’s collaboration with Quavo, ‘Tough’.

Lana Del Rey spoke to NME about the album last May, and suggested that the lyrics on the LP might be lighter than her more recent output. “I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic,” she said. “Maybe more American Songbook style?”

Since then, the sound of the album, its release date, and its title have been subject to speculation. Del Rey had previously said the project would arrive last October, later addressing the ongoing wait for the project by saying she was following her instincts after feeling a “literal energetic pause”.

Elsewhere, the ‘Cherry’ artist is set to embark on a UK and Ireland stadium tour this summer, with the dates all coming in support of the new album. At the tail end of 2024, Del Rey became the highest-selling solo artist of 2025, the stadium trek selling out.

Following the announcement of huge gigs in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Dublin and London and their subsequent sell outs, huge demand led to a second show in the UK capital being announced.
