Nintendo has finally acknowledged a number of leaks about the upcoming Switch 2.
So far, Nintendo has only confirmed that its new console will be announced before the end of the current financial year (which ends March 31) and will be compatible with existing Switch titles.
However, over the past few weeks, a number of leaked photos have been shared online, showcasing a bigger, more powerful version of the Nintendo Switch. Then at tech showcase CES, accessory maker Genki revealed a range of products reportedly designed for the Nintendo Switch 2 and displayed what it called an accurate recreation of the new console.
Employees from the company also told journalists that the Switch 2 would be released in April (via VGC).

In a rare statement, a representative from Nintendo has said the leaked images are “not official” (via Sankei) while a journalist at CES has claimed Nintendo has started legal proceedings against Genki (via The Game Post).
“They told me that Nintendo had already sent lawyers their way. But Genki has nothing to worry about because they’ve never signed any papers with Nintendo, no confidentiality agreement, no NDA. So, the Japanese brand is in the clear.”
Nintendo’s response has made some fans believe the leaks are even more believable though. “‘Not official’ does not mean ‘inaccurate’,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “Hard to imagine a third party manufacturer like Genki would put their entire business at risk by paying for a bunch of moulds that they weren’t positive are to specification, especially since it seems like they’re already producing units of cases and alternative Joy-Cons for the Switch 2,” added another.
“Know what would clear this all up? Official images,” wrote a third fan.
Last week, one Nintendo fan got so bored of waiting for news on the Switch 2, they turned to tarot with the cards promising an announcement “soon”.
In other news, a number of Xbox-exclusive games could be making their way to PlayStation and the Switch 2. It’s rumoured Gears Of War 1: Ultimate Edition and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are amongst the console-exclusive titles set to become multiplatform.
