Coin have split up following accusations against two of their band members.

The Nashville pop-rock outfit’s frontman and keyboard player Chase Lawrence confirmed the news in a statement on social media yesterday (January 28).

It came after Coin confirmed that they would be heading out on the road without founding drummer Ryan Winnen, who was stepping back from the group “to focus on some personal matters”.

In his latest message – shared on Coin’s official Instagram – Lawrence told fans that he had now also severed ties with guitarist Joe Memmel.

“I have recently become aware of revelations around my bandmates and want to share some thoughts directly with all of you,” he began.

“I believe in accountability and doing what’s right. Three months ago, I made the decision to move forward without my drummer, and yesterday, I parted ways with my guitarist.”

Lawrence continued: “Their behaviours directly conflict with my values, and I am devastated for anyone who has been affected by these actions.

“Creating a space for love & joy through music has always been my mission. Discovering that this space has been compromised by the actions of others is truly heartbreaking.

“Unfortunately, these developments have led me to the decision that COIN can no longer continue as a band.”

He added: “To our listeners, I am sorry for the disappointment this may bring. Your support has meant the world to me, and I owe it to you to be honest and decisive in addressing this situation.

“Refunds for the upcoming tour are available at the point of purchase. There’s a lot to figure out about the future, but I know I’m not done making music yet. Thank you for everything. With love, Chase.”

The latest statement from Lawrence did not specify the exact nature of the allegations. See the post above.

In a joint message posted on January 16, the remaining members of Coin at that point said they were “learning & loving” ahead of their tour without Winnen

“In November of last year, we decided Ryan would step away to focus on some personal matters,” the statement read.

“For these upcoming dates, one of our oldest & dearest friends will be joining us on drums. These are the first shows we’ve ever played without one of the founding members of the band. This is new & uncharted. So, thank you for being here.”

Neither Winnen nor Memmel have spoken publicly about the circumstances around their departures. NME has contacted the band’s representatives for comment.

Formed in 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee, Coin have released five studio albums together – the latest being last year’s ‘I’m Not Afraid Of Music Anymore’. In 2021, they shared their ‘Rainbow Mixtape’ collection.

Coin played their final live show together last November in Atlanta, Georgia, according to Setlist.FM. The group’s 2025 North American tour had been scheduled to begin in Denver, Colorado on February 8.
