Wembley Stadium investigating claims hundreds of fans snuck into Oasis gigs using security scam

Wembley Stadium is investigating claims that up to 200 people snuck in to see Oasis without tickets using a security scam.

Liam and Noel Gallagher kicked off their long-awaited ‘Live ‘25’ tour dates with two nights at Principality Stadium in Cardiff last month, and then headed over to their hometown of Manchester for five shows at Heaton Park before playing five of their seven sold-out stops at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Now, a new report by The Sun has claimed that some in attendance across all five nights had paid up to £350 each to be smuggled into the stadium through a disabled entrance. They allegedly used copies of the same ticket to get past security, who then handed them wristbands giving them access to the VIP area in front of the stage.

“We were given our tickets, which were all the same, and a woman drew a shape on our hands,” one fan who snuck in told the newspaper.

“We were told to go to the disabled door at entrance M, even though our tickets said entrance F. We showed our stamped hands to the person on the door, they scanned the tickets, even though we all had the same one, and let us in.

“Another member of staff then handed us a golden circle wristband and that was it. There were zero security searches. We just walked straight in.”

Sky News noted that six people were arrested for suspected unauthorised entry across the five shows, and 24 were ejected on the same grounds, with a stadium spokesperson telling the publication: “Entering Wembley Stadium without a ticket is a serious offence and we are investigating these allegations.

“If they are substantiated, we will refer our evidence to the police.”

It comes after safety concerns about Oasis’ shows have made headlines in recent weeks following reports of record-breaking alcohol consumption and the tragic death of 45-year-old fan Lee Claydon at their Wembley show last Saturday (August 2).

After news of his passing emerged, a spokesperson for Wembley Stadium told NME: “Wembley Stadium operates to a very high health and safety standard, fully meeting legal requirements for the safety of spectators and staff, and is certified to and compliant with the ISO 45001 standard.

“We work very closely and collaboratively with all relevant event delivery stakeholders – including event owners, local authorities, the Sports Ground Safety Authority and the police – to deliver events to high standards of safety, security and service for everyone attending or working in the venue.”

Oasis also released a statement on Sunday: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

Meanwhile, it later emerged that a fan, who had a valid ticket, had missed the entire show in Manchester after he was knocked unconscious by a security worker who was trying to keep out gate-crashers.

Oasis kicked off their three-show stint in Edinburgh last night (August 8), which they’ll complete before heading to Dublin and then across the Atlantic for the North American leg of the ‘Oasis Live ‘25’ tour. They will then head back to the UK for two final Wembley shows in September, with negotiations underway to bring the tour to Italy.

At the first of the 41 comeback shows, NME gave the historic night in Cardiff the full five stars, and shared: “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century.

“Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”
