2021 Wimbledon Winner Predictions: Who the Bookmakers Consider Favourites

Wimbledon 2021 Tournament Preview & Schedule

Wimbledon may have been cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but is in full swing this year. Following the end of the French Open a couple of weeks ago, Wimbledon 2021 is due to start on Monday 28 June and finish on Sunday 11 July. Wimbledon 2021 is the third Grand Slam tournament of the year and is part of the ATP and WTA tours. All games are played on grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon.

The defending champion, Novak Djokovic, is facing Jack Draper in the first round of the tournament and is expected to go all the way and retain his title. Another game to watch from the first round is between Roger Federer and Adrian Mannarino on the tournament’s second day. On the women’s side, all eyes will be on Serena Williams and Coco Gauff which will face Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Francesca Jones respectively.

The full Wimbledon 2021 schedule is available on Oddspedia including livescores, odds and matches details.

Betting Odds Favourites – Players to watch

Having won the Australian and French Open earlier this year, there is no doubt that Novak Jokovic is the men’s favourite to win and retain his 2019 Wimbledon title. On the other hand, there is no clear favourite in women’s singles as Ashleigh Barty and Serena Williams are battling for the first spot according to bookies. Emma Raducanu and Jodie Burrage are the two debutants in the 2021 Wimbledon that will try and show the crowd that they deserve their place under the spotlight.

Men Singles – Djokovic destined for dominance

With Roger Federer still trying to return to his peak form and Nadal not participating in the 2021 Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic seems to be heading to his 6th Wimbledon title. The defending champion is unsurprisingly now odds-on to win with bookies giving him odds of 1.60.

Top 5 Men’s Singles favourites according to bookies’ betting odds:

  • Novak Djokovic @1.62
  • Daniil Medvedev @8.00
  • Roger Federer @12.00
  • Matteo Berrettini @14.00
  • Alexander Zverev @19.20

Women Singles – Will Serena win a record 8th title

With Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep, ranked No. 2 and 3 respectively, pulling out of the 2021 Wimbledon, there is only the Number 1 ranked Ash Barty that is standing on the way of Serena Williams from winning her 8th title. If everything goes to plan, the Aussie and the American will play against each other in the semis. Currently, bookies give them equal outright odds of winning 2021 Wimbledon, approx 6.50, but things could change at any minute in every game.

Top 5 Women’s Singles favourites according to bookmakers’ betting odds:

  • Ashleigh Barty @6.50
  • Serena Williams @6.60
  • Aryna Sabalenka @11.00
  • Garbine Muguruza @13.00
  • Iga Swiatek @13.10

Wimbledon 2021 Tips: Some good and high paying bets

  • Andy Murray to reach the Quarter-Finals @3.75

Based on the draw, Murray should not have any problems progressing through the first three rounds. With some consistent play, and bare physical condition issues he should make a deep run. For us this pick is a no-brainer in terms of value.

  • Serena Williams to Reach Final @4.5

Serena also has a promising path at Wimbledon. In what could be her last Wimbledon appearance, she chases to match the all-time women’s Grand Slam record. She is also looking for her first major title since the birth of her daughter (it would be her 8th title at Wimbledon), being 4 times at the finals already for the past 4 years. It’s a high paying bet, well worth the risk.

  • Djokovic v Federer Final @8.0

Djokovic is heavily favoured to win the men’s tournament, and any other outcome will be an upset. Federer, being weeks away from turning 40, makes his highly anticipated return to Centre Court. After being fully recovered from injuries, he is now aiming to win his 21st Grand Slam title – an all-time record. We believe he has just enough left in the tank to produce another spectacular performance at Wimbledon, and the chances to see him meet Djokovic at the finals seems not far-fetched.
