The New Orleans Saints plan to meet in person with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore after Super Bowl LIX about their head coaching vacancy, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis informed other coaching candidates on Friday that there hasn’t been a final decision, but the team intends to continue discussions with Moore, according to Pelissero.
Moore can’t be officially hired until after the Super Bowl.
Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi are among the other candidates vying for the vacant role.
The Saints have met with Moore twice, including once each virtually and in Philadelphia, according to Nola.com’s Matthew Paras.
The 36-year-old Moore is in his first campaign as the Eagles’ offensive play-caller. He previously served as the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys (2019-2022) and Los Angeles Chargers (2023).
A standout quarterback at Boise State, Moore’s coaching career started in 2018 as a QB coach for the Cowboys after playing as a backup for three seasons.
The Eagles tout one of the league’s more explosive offenses. Philadelphia finished the regular season seventh in the league in points (27.2) and eighth in total yards (367.2). Moore is credited for helping establish a prolific unit that features Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown.
The Saints are seeking a culture change after firing head coach Dennis Allen amid a 5-12 season. New Orleans has missed the playoffs in each of the past four campaigns.
