Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs is joining the Green Bay Packers, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Green Bay reportedly claimed Diggs off waivers after the Dallas Cowboys released him Tuesday. Drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2020, the 27-year-old spent the past six seasons in Dallas.
The split between Diggs and the Cowboys caught many around the league off guard. The talented defensive back developed into one of Dallas’ most reliable playmakers in the secondary during the early portion of his tenure. Diggs earned his first Pro Bowl nod and was named an All-Pro after leading the league with 11 interceptions in 2021.
However, the Cowboys reportedly felt it was best for both sides to move in different directions due to a combination of factors that had accumulated over time.
Diggs signed a five-year, $97-million extension with Dallas in 2023. The Packers will be on the hook for Diggs’ $472,000 salary in the final week of the regular season.
The Alabama product started six of the eight games he was active for prior to being waived by the Cowboys. In October, Diggs suffered a concussion at his home that sidelined him for multiple weeks.
He’ll reunite with star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, who the Cowboys traded to the Packers before the start of the 2025 regular season.
Green Bay bolsters its depth at cornerback following a pair of injuries at the position. Nate Hobbs sustained a knee injury in last week’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and Kamal Hadden was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle issue.
Diggs’ availability for the Packers’ regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday is unclear.
