Warning: The following article contains possible SPOILERS for Ahsoka.

The upcoming Ahsoka series promises a return to the galaxy far, far away. Led by Rosario Dawson as the fan-favorite character Ahsoka Tano, the series picks up after the events of the Lothal conflict. Ahsoka embarks on a quest to track down General Thrawn and rescue the missing Ezra Bridger, two characters whose fates have remained uncertain since the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels’ fifth season. Alongside this narrative, the series is rumored to feature the battle scene set on the fiery planet of Mustafar, where Anakin Skywalker, portrayed once again by Hayden Christensen, confronts his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, during the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

Insider reports from MakingStarWars.net, via Bespin Bulletin, hint at the complexity of the Mustafar encounter. Ahsoka is said to witness herself intervening in the duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The outcome of this confrontation reportedly offers two possibilities: one where Anakin deals a fatal blow to Kenobi during the battle, and another where Kenobi transcends and becomes one with the Force. The source revealed:

“They filmed a sequence where Ahsoka sees herself on Mustafar fighting Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader before he’s in the suit. They are new scenes. They had a dummy for a dead Kenobi, and they had clothes for a dead Kenobi. They had two ideas there. One is Anakin literally kills Kenobi in that fight where the idea would be Ahsoka and Kenobi confront Darth Vader. Another is he turns into a pile of clothes just like he always did – he becomes one with the Force at that time in the narrative.”

Everything We Know About Ahsoka

Disney+

Ahsoka is set to kick off with a two-episode event. While the total runtime of these episodes has been reported to be 1 hour, 36 minutes, and 36 seconds, the specific duration of each individual episode remains shrouded in mystery. The trailer offered a glimpse into the characters that will be featured, such as Hera Syndulla portrayed by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Mon Mothma played by Genevieve O’Reilly. Nevertheless, the biggest revelation came with the return of Thrawn, a beloved character from the extended Star Wars lore, known for his tactical genius and enigmatic demeanor. Thrawn’s resurgence in Star Wars Rebels garnered a massive following, cementing his status as an iconic figure in the Star Wars saga.

The series is also set to intertwine with The Mandalorian season three , creating an interconnected narrative that will further expand the universe. Executive producer Carrie Beck previously emphasized Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hera as the central protagonists in the series, with their compelling journey forming the heart and soul of the show. These three heroines stand out as powerful female representations, defying traditional gender expectations with their strong leadership, resilience, and determination.

“I think that’s actually one of the reasons why people have loved Ahsoka’s and Sabine’s and Hera’s journey all of this time. Because they had been so prominent as female representation in a space that we don’t get to really see women be like that, to be such leaders, to be finicky, to be headstrong, to be stubborn, and to see how different they are, and how well they come together as a chosen family. It just was really fun to see how that’s only just expanded and grown, and that there’s such a rich history there, and not just because of a desire for more inclusivity or diversity, but because it’s just been inherent to the story that’s been told ever since Dave and Carrie came on board.”

Ahsoka is set to release on Disney+ on August 23.
