Warning: Spoilers for Reacher Season 3, Episode 6.
With only a couple more episodes to go until the Season 3 finale, Reacher is entering the home stretch and things are definitely heating up. After last week’s monumental cliffhanger, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) finally comes face to face with Julius McCabe. Despite my sneaking suspicions, it turns out that McCabe and Xavier Quinn (Brian Tee) are indeed the same person. Whomp, whomp.
I’m a little disappointed that I was wrong, but here we are. While there was no surprise with Season 3’s villain, there was still a slight twist. Despite being shot off the edge of a cliff and falling into an icy river below, Quinn seemingly has no recollection of Reacher from all those years ago. I guess he was telling the truth about his retrograde amnesia during his time in the hospital. Who would have thought?
Now face to face with a man he assumed was dead, Reacher only removes his hand from his gun when he realizes Teresa (Storm Steenson) is still alive. Despite overhearing sensitive information about Quinn/McCabe’s gun operation, she’s being kept alive in order to sweeten the deal Quinn has planned with his client. As such, Reacher chooses to hold off on killing him for the moment if it means he and Duffy (Sonya Cassidy) still have a chance to save Teresa.
Such a chivalrous act prompts Duffy to eventually kiss Reacher, which surprises them both, and even angers her a bit despite having initiated it. That being said, she’s the only substantial female counterpart this season. Did we really expect anything less? Reacher is seemingly contractually obligated to kiss someone every single season, and I didn’t think it was going to be Beck (Anthony Michael Hall). Clearly, things are heating up in a multitude of ways. Unfortunately, Reacher’s latest episode ultimately finds its titular character no longer on the inside.

While running errands with Richard (Johnny Berchtold) in town, Reacher meets with Duffy in an alleyway to return her badge. This is the moment when the two share a kiss, but that isn’t the biggest revelation in the scene. After their smooch, Villanueva (Roberto Montesinos) loudly comes around the corner, which immediately irritates Reacher because he wanted Duffy to come alone. Remember when Villanueva pretended to be the cop Reacher shot and killed during Richard’s fake kidnapping? Because Richard surely does.
As if on cue, Richard approaches the alleyway moments after Villanueva, and the truth about his kidnapping and Reacher’s identity is no longer a secret. Now Richard knows everything. Thankfully, however, he promises to keep it all under wraps. He doesn’t want his father to go to prison, but he knows it might actually be better than being under Quinn/McCabe’s brutal thumb. Unfortunately, Reacher’s cover doesn’t stay intact long enough to continue any inside investigations into Beck and Quinn/McCabe’s operations, but his blown cover wasn’t Richard’s fault.

McCabe Makes a House Call and Blows Reacher’s Cover
Paranoid about another possible spy inside his operation, Quinn/McCabe has his lackeys look into anyone who might be looking into him. As a result, he discovers Powell (Owen Roth) and Neagley (Maria Sten). Powell is killed after refusing to give up any information, but Neagley is able to turn the tables on the men who came after her, which allows her to warn Reacher about Quinn/McCabe’s inquiries. Unfortunately, everything leads back to the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit, and when Quinn/McCabe shows up at Beck’s home unannounced, he learns that Reacher was once a part of that same unit.
Now everything is out in the open and Reacher no longer has a place on the inside. He manages to escape and regroups with Duffy after taking out a handful of Quinn/McCabe’s men. However, with his cover blown, everything he knew about the gun operation is now moot. With every detail now changed, he and Duffy have no idea when the big sale is happening or where the guns might be. Thankfully, they at least might know where Teresa is being held.
Now that Reacher is no longer with Beck, he and Richard are left to the devices of a brutal and angry Quinn/McCabe. After forcing Richard to play Russian roulette in front of his father, Quinn/McCabe promptly demands a “matching set.” Seeing as he has already cut off one of Richard’s ears, it’s clear he wants the other one, and he wants Beck to get it for him. I’m really looking forward to the moment Reacher finally kills Quinn/McCabe. That’s all but guaranteed to happen by the end of Episode 8, right?

Reacher and Duffy Set Out to Find Teresa
After tracking down the number attached to the special-order dress Quinn/McCabe commissioned for Teresa, Reacher and Duffy connect the number to a town called Port Rome and Harley (Brendan Fletcher). Upon arriving at the town’s marina, they find a boat anchored off the docks, which means Teresa must be there. While she definitely was at one point, Harley has since moved her at the behest of Quinn/McCabe. With the boat now ablaze following a scuffle with Harley, Recher and Duffy realize he doesn’t have anything useful to offer them and leave him to die.
The pair make their way back to the dock as Harley blows up with the boat. With no more leads to follow, Teresa is seemingly lost in the wind. However, Reacher realizes they might have one more card to play that provides them someone on the inside. The only catch is that they’ll need to head to Los Angeles to snag their mystery man. Reacher Season 3 is currently streaming on Prime Video. New episodes premiere every Thursday. This season’s finale arrives on March 27, 2025.
