In an exclusive interview with us at MovieWeb, Ewan McGregor took a minute to discuss his motorcycle shows with Charley Boorman (Long Way Round, Long Way Down, Long Way Up), with the Star Wars star teasing that another is now in the works. Promoting his new movie Bleeding Love, which sees McGregor share the screen alongside his real-life daughter Clara, the actor kept things close to his chest regarding a new motorcycle trip, simply saying “watch this space.”
“Watch this space. I mean, the last one, we did the last trip in 2019. We got it just before the pandemic. I mean, what good timing. We were lucky to finish in December 2019. And by March 2020, we were shut down, weren’t we? And by the time we had edited and got it out, everyone was in lockdown for a year, so there was this travel show that everyone was ready for. I was pretty lucky. So, we will definitely do more. I’m not able to talk about it at the moment, but just watch this space here.”
The last we saw of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman atop motorcycles was in the Apple TV+ series Long Way Up. Journeying from Ushuaia in Argentina through South and Central America to Los Angeles in the United States, many found the series to be the perfect viewing experience amid the pandemic, with audiences once again falling in love with the sense of adventure and McGregor and Boorman’s bromance.

Bleeding Love Finds Ewan McGregor Starring Alongside His Daughter
Ewan McGregor is currently promoting his new movie Bleeding Love, in which he plays the father to Clara McGregor, his real-life daughter. Bleeding Love centers on a father who secretly drives his estranged daughter to rehab after she overdoses.
“After a drastic incident in her life, a young woman (Clara) embarks on an impromptu road trip with her estranged father (Ewan). En route to their destination of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the two are forced to confront the issues of their past that have led to their frail relationship, while encountering an eccentric array of characters along the way, in order to bring them closer together again.”
Bleeding Love finds McGregor behind the wheel a lot, in scenes that have been praised by the director, and we asked him if his motorcycle shows had helped him prepare for that.
Ewan: That absolutely influences me. We’d done three long, long trips, me and Charlie, riding our bikes with cameras, so we’re just so used to riding up close to the camera and like overtaking it, whatever it be, it’s sort of second nature to us now. I should touch wood immediately, because that is a dangerous thing to say. [Knocks] So when it comes to driving a car in a film set, I pretty much feel like I’m really good at that! I also really like driving anyway. But I didn’t do all the driving [in Bleeding Love], sometimes the car was on a loader, and that was nice because we just got loads of time […] Clara and I would have like 15 minutes to chat.
Clara: And our transportation team on this was amazing. Especially in an indie like this, and in an old truck that we’re just praying doesn’t break down. They were incredible.
Ewan: We never did break down in that truck.
