In fact, LeBlanc is the first one of them to publicly break silence on his friend’s death individually, after he, along with Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrown and David Schwimmer, published a joint statement days after Perry’s death.

Through his Instagram page, LeBlanc shared an emotional message to say goodbye to his co-star, along with some images of moments they shared in front of cameras as Joey and Chandler, and on set as friends beyond their characters:

“Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”

LeBlanc’s publication was quickly filled with comments from his followers and fans of the series, showing their support and also remembering Perry and especially the great bond that Joey and Chandler shared on the show.

Joey and Chandler Were the Perfect Definition of Friendship

Despite the series’ title, there is no doubt that an important component in Friends was love and romantic relationships. Surely there are many fans who prefer the couple of Monica and Chandler, while others would choose Ross and Rachel, or maybe Phoebe and Mike, the character by Paul Rudd. But when it comes to friendship, there’s no doubt that most would have Joey and Chandler’s relationship as their favorite.

Friends, as its creators described on several occasions, is a show that is about that moment in life where your friends are your family, and the characters of Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry were the best example of this. Joey and Chandler were best friends since the beginning of the series, because they share the same apartment and spend much of their daily lives together.
