After going by many names featuring colons, it looks like the Kathryn Hahn-led spin-off is now just going by the name of Agatha. With so many movie sequels and TV shows carrying lengthy titles based on the fact that studios want to make sure everyone knows they are part of a certain franchise, the magical series simply didn’t need a subtitle, and now it seems to have been dropped.
Hahn’s turn as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision became an instant hit with fans, leading Hahn to several award nominations, and even gave her a Billboard Chart hit to boot. Although the spin-off series was announced when Marvel Studios were still aiming to complete the Multiverse Saga by May 2026, Agatha has proven popular enough to remain on their slate where others have fallen by the wayside. Although the series is still to be given a release date, its frequent name changes have kept the series in the minds of people, if nothing else.
Will Agatha Be As Successful as WandaVision?
Disney
WandaVision was released in 2021 as the first TV venture from Marvel Studios on Disney+, and it had several things in its favor. The show was led by the ever-popular Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, it had a unique and intriguing set up of framing its opening episodes to pay homage to several eras of TV sitcoms, and it arrived when pandemic audiences were flocking to Disney+ in their droves.
Agatha comes several years on from that, and with WandaVision still being one of the biggest Marvel shows to be released on Disney+, it has some pretty big shoes to fill. The series is expected to pick up directly after the events of WandaVision, with Agatha breaking free from the spell she was put under by Wanda, only to discover her powers have vanished. This will reportedly set Agatha on a journey to rediscover her powers, being joined by several new characters and some old faces along the way. As yet, though, it seems that there will be no Elizabeth Olsen appearance in the show.
