Melanie Lynskey Thinks Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre Reconciliation Following Two and a Half Men Fallout Is ‘Amazing’

Charlie Sheen starred on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men from 2003 to 2011 when he was let go following a public fallout with series creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre. The actor then filed a lawsuit against Lorre and Warner Bros. for wrongful termination. Following news of the lawsuit’s settlement, little has been reported about the strained relationship between the two men. That is, until this year. Last month, we learned that the two would be working together again. Melanie Lynskey, who appeared in the sitcom as Rose, an ardent admirer turned friend turned romantic interest of Charlie’s (Sheen’s character) had no idea the two men had reconciled but was happy to hear the news while appearing on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast.

“The last time I was texting with Charlie, he seemed to be in such a good place, like an honestly good place. I always hope the best for both of them. Honestly. I think that’s amazing,” Lynskey shared.

While no talks of a Two and a Half Men reunion have been reported, Lynskey shared that she would be happy to appear in a recurring role if the opportunity ever transpired.

“I mean, I’d do a guest star if they want. There were moments on that show that were so fun. And I do genuinely love live audience sitcoms,” she said. “There’s nothing like the energy of it, especially when people know the show and love the show.”

Lynskey made her film debut as a teenager in 1994’s Heavenly Creatures, opposite Kate Winslet. The two quickly earned praise for their portrayals Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme, two teenaged murderers. Lynskey went on to appear in films including But I’m a Cheerleader, Sweet Home Alabama Up in the Air, The Informant!, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore and Don’t Look Up. Lynskey’s work has also included roles in series like Castle Rock, Mrs. America, and last year’s Hulu true crime series Candy. She most recently appeared in HBO’s hit series The Last of Us and currently stars on Showtime’s critically acclaimed Yellowjackets, which earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress.

Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre’s Collaborations

CBS

Two and a Half Men premiered on CBS in 2003 and starred Sheen and Jon Cryer (as Alan) as two radically different brothers who must learn to co-habitate following Alan’s marital struggles. Alan’s son, Jake (played by Angus T. Johnson), also moves in with his pleasure-seeking uncle. When Sheen’s contract was terminated in 2011, Ashton Kutcher joined the sitcom as billionaire Walden Schmidt. Two and a Half Men concluded with its 12th season in 2015.

Lorre and Sheen’s collaboration comes through the upcoming Max comedy series How to Be a Bookie, where Sheen has been cast in a recurring role. The series is co-written by Lorre and Nick Bakay and stars Sebastian Maniscalco as “a veteran bookie struggling to survive the impending legalization of sports gambling, increasingly unstable clients, family and co-workers.” Lorre is also attached to the project as an executive producer, alongside Bakay, Maniscalco, Judi Marmel, and Andy Tennant. He also directs the pilot episode. The series is currently in production.
