Modern Family and Married… with Children Fans Celebrate Ed O’Neill on His 75th Birthday



Modern Family and Married with Children star Ed O’Neill has just turned 75 years old, and fans everywhere are celebrating the comedy legend’s big day. A Youngstown, Ohio native, O’Neill came into this world 75 years ago today when he was born on April 12, 1946. Given the occasion, it’s as good a time as many for fans to celebrate the comedic actor and his work with a flurry of tribute posts wishing him a happy birthday on social media.

Meanwhile, the free streaming service Pluto TV is also celebrating O’Neill’s 75th birthday with a Married… with Children marathon starting at 7 p.m. ET. The caption of a tweet shared by Pluto says, “There are two types of people: People who related to Al Bundy, and LIARS!”

Having spent decades of his life working in sitcoms, O’Neill is particularly famous for his acclaimed role as Al Bundy on Married… with Children. One of the most popular TV dads in television history, the role earned O’Neill two Golden Globe nominations. The classic comedy series also starred Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino.

Years later, O’Neill would pick up another iconic sitcom role when he was cast as Jay Pritchett on the ABC comedy series Modern Family. The role would earn O’Neill an additional three Emmy Award nominations and four Screen Actors Guild Awards for being a part of the ensemble cast. He appeared in the role for all eleven seasons between 2009 to 2020. Additionally, he is also known for his roles in various movies like Wayne’s World, Little Giants, and Wreck It Ralph.
